WARNING: Contains potential spoilers for JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED #3!A new and totally feminine Birds of Prey-esque wasn’t even on my radar, but after seeing the potential of it Wonder Womanled by amazing women through official art, it’s honestly all I can think about. I’m crossing my fingers (and toes) that DC moves forward with what could be one of its newest and most intriguing teams yet.
I’m particularly looking forward to witnessing key Justice League members like Wonder Woman and Batman interact with some of my favorite characters like Starfire and other Titans…
Solicitations for DC’s January lineup have officially been released, including Mark Waid and Dan Mora Justice League Unlimited #3 – the third chapter of one of my most anticipated series of the year. This narrative not only revives the previously disbanded League, but also reimagines the team as bigger and better, with an open invitation system where all of Earth’s heroes are invited to join.

The global terrorist group Inferno has taken the next step towards world domination with an ecological disaster! Will Superman, Wonder Woman and the others have to sacrifice Swamp Thing’s life? Plus: Plastic Man and Beast Boy work with Project Atom to fix their messed up superpowers! |
This new approach promises new character dynamics, team interactions, and probably some subteams. While the Titans are already confirmed as one of these splinter groups, I’m convinced that DC could be as well gifting fans with a new all-female team featuring Wonder Woman, The Question, and Star Sapphire.
I Didn’t Know I Needed a Wonder Woman, The Question, and the Star Sapphire Team Until I Saw This Cover
Cover C Nathan Szerdy Card variant for Justice League Unlimited #3
Right now, this Wonder Woman-led all-female team-up is purely speculative on my part, teased by a specific variant cover for Justice League Unlimited #3, due out January 22, 2025. This stunning cover by Nathan Szerdy features Diana Prince, Renee Montoya, and Carol Ferris in full superhero costume, each exuding evil—especially Montoya, with a shotgun resting on her shoulder . Although several variant covers were revealed in the solicitation, Szerdy stood out to me for his unusual character lineup, instantly grabbing my attention and fueling speculation.
What makes this potential partnership especially intriguing is that these three heroines have had minimal interaction in the past, making this lineup highly unexpected. While it could simply be a creative decision on Szerdy’s part, Variant covers often serve as subtle hints about upcoming plot developments. This makes me hopeful that this artwork foreshadows a real team-up between Wonder Woman, The Question, and Star Sapphire, potentially creating DC’s next ‘Birds of Prey’ style team-up. Such a group would bring a new dynamic, with each character’s unique background and strengths adding complexity and intrigue.
Diana Prince, Renee Montoya and Carol Ferris will likely be the main female characters in Justice League Unlimited
Cover J 1:50 Edwin Galmon Wraparound card variant for Justice League Unlimited #1
Even if a subgroup partnership between Diana, Renee, and Carol doesn’t happen, I believe Szerdy’s disguise is, at the very least, teasing it. Wonder Woman, The Question and Star Sapphire will be the main female characters in the film. Justice League Unlimited narrative. While Diana is an obvious choice – being a core and founding member of the League who has already been mentioned numerous times in synopses and cover art – there’s also a strong case for Renee and Carol when it comes to the likelihood that they’re about to see a lot more of them.
In case of Star Sapphire, she has predominantly appeared in requests for all material related to Justice League Unlimited. The heroine appears on several main and variant covers of the series and was one of the first characters confirmed as part of the team at SDCC 2024. In fact, it was implied that she would be one of the main members of the focus alongside Batman, Wonder. Woman, Flash, Superman, Black Bolt, Atom and Captain Atom. As for The Question, DC appears to be moving her to the forefront of its storytelling, giving her an upcoming solo series and positioning her as the Watchtower’s head of security.
What I’m most excited about: The new team and character dynamics Justice League Unlimited Will explore
Cover H 1:50 Lucas Meyer Card Stock Variant for Justice League Unlimited #2
As previously mentioned, one of the things that excites me most about the potential partnership of Wonder Woman, The Question, and Star Sapphire is the opportunity to explore new character dynamics. This expectation goes beyond this trio of heroines, as Justice League Unlimited promises fans the chance to see heroes who normally don’t interact now functioning as a cohesive team. I am particularly eager to witness the core Justice League members, such as Wonder Woman and Batmaninteracting with some of my favorite characters, like Stellar and others Titansas this can lead to exciting and unexpected relationships/developments.
Justice League Unlimited #3 will be released on January 22, 2025, by DC Comics!
