I'm nervous about Chris Evans returning to the MCU in the upcoming Phase 6 Avengers: Judgment Day It will change the way I see Steve Rogers. After a five-year hiatus from the MCU, I was thrilled to see Chris Evans appear Deadpool and Wolverine as Johnny Storm's Human Torch, but I was hoping this was actually the end of Evans' career at Marvel Studios. I was shocked to learn that Chris Evans was cast in the role Avengers: Judgment Dayreuniting with the Russo brothers, Robert Downey Jr. and Hayley Atwell, but now I'm worried about Steve Rogers' legacy.
We first saw Chris Evans appear in the MCU as Steve Rogers in 2011 Captain America: The First Avenger. Chosen to become Captain America before being frozen until the present day, Rogers became a founding member of the Avengers and one of the MCU's most central and powerful superheroes. I thought Steve Rogers' retirement in Avengers: Endgame it was the perfect ending for the former Captain America. This makes me quite nervous about Evans' return in Avengers: Judgment Day could stain your End of the game conclusionespecially when considering popular casting theories for the MCU veteran.
Chris Evans' The Perfect Avengers: Doomsday Returns Is Arguably A Villain
Chris Evans returning as a villain makes sense for the MCU
So far, we've seen Chris Evans appear in 12 MCU films, and aside from his brief cameo as a shape-shifting Loki in Thor: The Dark Worldhe played a steadfast superhero in each of them. Following its release Avengers: Judgment Dayhowever, As the extent and nature of his role were not revealed, theories arose suggesting that he could, in fact, play a villain. I think this is quite likely, especially since Robert Downey Jr. was recast as one of Marvel's most iconic supervillains, Doctor Doom, in Avengers: Judgment Day.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Chris Evans play a formidable supervillain in Avengers: Judgment Day. I think this would be a fantastic way to subvert audience expectations regarding Evans' return to the MCU, and it could support theories of an evil Avengers team forming, perhaps led by Doctor Doom, and including twisted versions of Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, Hawkeye and more. As awesome as a Captain America villain can be, however, I'm nervous about how far Marvel Studios would need to take this role for Chris Evans.which could be detrimental to his career as Steve Rogers.
HYDRA's Captain America is a perfect comic book setup for the MCU to use
HYDRA's Captain America Is Chris Evans' Most Popular Casting Choice
While there are many notable Marvel Comics supervillains that Chris Evans could play Avengers: Judgment DayIt's not hard to assume that his perfect villain character would be a HYDRA-indoctrinated Steve Rogers. This alternate version of Steve Rogers was first seen in Marvel Comics in 2016 and briefly replaced Earth-616's Captain America.instigating the Secret Empire event that saw HYDRA take control of the United States. HYDRA has been a big part of Chris Evans' Captain America story, so I'm excited about the possibility of seeing this big twist.
What makes the possible introduction of HYDRA's Captain America all the more exciting is that this version of Steve Rogers also becomes a bitter enemy of the mutants of Marvel Comics' Earth-616. I've been on the edge of my seat waiting for Marvel Studios to debut some of the MCU's most notable and powerful mutants, and seeing an evil Steve Rogers perhaps evolve into a twisted Captain Krakoa and spread mutant hatred and discrimination would be a fantastic way to open those doors. However, it makes me quite worried about how Chris Evans' new MCU character will be handled.
I'm so nervous about the intensity of the villain the MCU would need to make Steve Rogers
Chris Evans' Evil Steve Rogers Could Tarnish His Heroic Legacy
The fact that Chris Evans played one of the most patriotic and grounded superheroes in comic book history in the MCU means that his potential return as a villain needs to have the same impact. This makes me nervous because a villainous Steve Rogers would be one of the most terrifying, sinister, scary and brutal adversaries the MCU heroes have ever faced. This is especially true if he not only fights to restore HYDRA to its former glory, but also spreads significant hatred towards the emergence of mutants on Earth.
As amazing as it is to watch something like this, it worries me that Steve Rogers' heroic legacy and the perfect ending of Avengers: Endgame will be massacred in Avengers: Judgment Day. An evil version of Steve Rogers could be so intense and disturbing that his debut could actually make it difficult for us to rewatch Chris Evans' heroic career in the MCU. I really don't want to hate Steve Rogers, so Marvel Studios needs to find the right balance between creating shock factor and paying homage to what Chris Evans has done before.
Avengers: Doomsday is the fifth Avengers film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will bring together heroes, new and old, to face Victor von Doom – played by the returned Robert DOwney Jr.. Avengers 5 will also mark the beginning of phase 6 of the MCU.
