Iain Armitage and Wallace Shawn reunite months after Sheldon and Dr. Sturgis didn't say goodbye to each other in Young Sheldon final. George's unexpected death was the launching pad for The Big Bang Theory the prequel ending, with his funeral taking up the first half of the show's swan song. However, once the Coopers were finally able to say goodbye to their patriarch, Young Sheldon Finale shifted its focus to ending Sheldon's childhood in Texas. Unfortunately, he missed out on a couple of important players in the boy genius's life, including his best mentor.
New images shared Armitage on his official account, X reports that he recently reunited with Dr. Sturgis actor Wallace Shawn in New York. Check out the photos below:
In the caption, Armitage writes that he and Sean got together for dinner and took a photo to send. Ed Begley Jr., who played Dr. Linkletter in Young Sheldon. IN The Big Bang Theory In the prequel, Dr. Sturgis and Dr. Linkletter acted as Sheldon's two mentors, although the former was actually his very first advisor.

Because Young Sheldon was canceled within a shortened year, Chuck Lorre and his writers had very limited time to complete everything before they ran out of time. This included repeating George's fraud scandal, arranging and executing his death, launch Georgie and Mandy's first marriageand the conclusion of the Sheldon storyline in Texas. Because of this, it is somehow clear that Young Sheldon couldn't give Dr. Sturgis and Sheldon a moment to say goodbye.
However, it wasn't that difficult to do. This could have been the last conversation in which Sheldon thanked his mentor for everything. Young Sheldon already missed Sheldon's graduationbut seeing Dr. Sturgis search for his miracle while packing up his room would be an acceptable way to end their story. This would have given Sean's character the proper ending he deserved.

Presentation of Dr. Sturgis in Young Sheldon was part of an exploration of the character's origins, particularly how he got into his line of work in The Big Bang Theory. In the show's earliest seasons, Sean's character encouraged the boy genius to pursue applied physics, which made Sheldon's failure to acknowledge his contributions during his Nobel Prize acceptance speech in physics problematic. I was hoping that Young Sheldon would have fixed this, but obviously the prequel couldn't do that either.
Unfortunately, Dr. Sturgis will be among the characters that The Big Bang Theory franchise failed to give a proper send-off.
Now that Young Sheldon ended and Sheldon's television streak came to an end, there was little chance of giving Dr. Sturgis credit for shaping the future genius. Let's say he can come back Georgie and Mandy's first marriageBut spin-off sequel is no longer about Sheldonwhich means it will be difficult to translate their story into a project dedicated to something else. Unfortunately, Dr. Sturgis will be among the characters that The Big Bang Theory franchise failed to give a proper send-off.
