Joan met Chock, 60, during the opening night of The golden bachelorette season 1. While he didn't get her first impression, he did get her highly coveted first solo date. This meeting was a turning point in their relationship, and neither of them looked back. The moment Joan gave Chock his final rose, the conclusion was inevitable. He said a tearful goodbye to Joan and it was unclear whether he would ever return. Joan was devastated to lose Chockbut he found a way to get back to her. He was already so deeply committed to Joan that he didn't want to miss the opportunity to win her heart.

Soon after their engagement became public, US Weekly posted a photo shoot of the couple on Instagram, in which Joan and Chock happily celebrate their engagement. The post's caption reads: "Love is golden." Joan and Chock are clearly on the path to a happy ending, and instead of hating them, I wish people would be happy for them. They are setting a great example for older people who want to find love againand I am inspired by their willingness to open their hearts after going through so much pain.
