Scrubs is my favorite sitcom of all time, and I was lucky enough not only to make it onto the official Rewatch podcast, but also for the hosts to bring my idea to life. The Scrubs The revival looks inevitable at this point, because while the show hasn’t officially been renewed, showrunner Bill Lawrence has promised that he is “Definitely going to“Make more episodes with the original cast. For those who can’t wait to have more stories from the world of ScrubsYou can hear the stars acting out some weird scenarios, and it all started with my idea.
Fake doctors, real friends is co-hosted by Zach Braff and Donald Faison. The duo played Dr. John “JD” Dorian and Dr. Christopher Turk throughout all nine seasons of Scrubs. The purpose of the podcast is for the stars of the show to analyze each Scrubs episode and provide behind-the-scenes stories about how the sitcom was made. when The podcast is running out Scrubs Episodes to talk aboutBraff and Faison put out a call to their listeners for ideas on what they can do once they’ve broken through all the episodes of the medical sitcom. Excitingly, my idea made it through to them.

Braff & Faison listened to my ideas about how the podcast could adapt
in the 1:26:36 mark of Fake doctors, real friends“709 My dumb luck,” Producer Joelle Monique can be heard introducing my pitch to Braff and Faison. Granted, they misread my last name and pronounced it “Biddy” – But rest assured, it is me. My thought for after the couple has exhausted Scrubs Episodes was for the podcast to focus on producing original Scrubs Audio plays. Fake doctors, real friends Often has guest stars from the original cast, so I figured the infrastructure was already in place.
“I think I speak for everyone when I say we want more Scrubs. So, my idea is that you guys write your own Scrubs Audio plays and performs them, in character, as Turk and JD.
Showrunner Bill Lawrence has already appeared on Fake doctors, real friends Many times before I made it on the podcast. During the appearances, Lawrence mentioned that one of the challenges faced by Scrubs Season 10 was as busy as he was with other projects at the time. so, My logic was that the co-hosts themselves could write or improvise short sketches set in the world of Scrubs That did not necessarily require Lawrence’s cooperation. They wouldn’t need to be set in the sitcom’s main canon, but it might be fun if they were.
Zach Braff explains why my Scrubs revival idea isn’t 100% possible
Scrubs is owned by Disney, which makes an unofficial revival tricky
I was absolutely thrilled to hear Zach Braff describe my pitch as, “Very good idea“But I was also briefly disappointed when he announced that the podcast would not be,”allowed to do so.” Braff went on to explain that the unfortunate reality of the situation is that Scrubs is the property of Disney. so, Fake doctors, real friends Would not be able to use established characters like Turk and JD. It would be reasonable to assume that there would be a sizable fee to pay to use Scrubs characters – if Disney would even allow their use in the first place.
After a brief tangent about copyright, Mickey Mouse, and GhostbustersThe topic returned to the topic of my proposal for the future of the podcast after all the episodes of Scrubs was covered by Fake doctors, real friends. This came as a surprise to me when I first listened to the podcast episode, because I assumed the legal issues would be too much to overcome, and that would be the end of the line. however, Braff seemed determined to bring my pitch to life In some way, and he came up with a creative solution.
Zach Braff and Donald Faison eventually performed AI-generated Scrubs scripts on the podcast
ChatGPT was responsible for penning the new scenes
The episode of Fake doctors, real friends The one I published was released in January 2023, when ChatGPT was very much in the public eye. The site is still quite popular, but it seems to have settled down now. While he tries to find a way that he and Faison can voice Turk and JD on the podcast, Braff suggested turning to the AI software to generate a Scrubs Scene They can then perform. ChatGPT was able when they tried this during recording, so they made a plan to get an egg generated Scrubs Script for the following episode.

in Fake doctors, real friends“710: My Waste of Time,” Braff and Faison made good on their promise and acted out a chat script called, “Guy Love.” Beginning at 1:06:35, the scene is hilariously clunky, but I was impressed by how well the actors brought it to life. However, the podcast continued with the AI segment for a few more episodes – one of which allowed Sarah Chalke to reprise her role as Dr. Elliot Reed. I have no doubt the official Scrubs The recovery will be infinitely better, but I am still strangely proud of what I have started for a short time.
