I think Married At First Sight Season 18 is moving too slowly (the show needs to pick up the pace or else it could fail)

Married at first sight Season 18 is moving slowly, as has been a trend in the show's last few years, and I think things need to move faster to keep viewers invested in the relationships. All over MAFS history, seasons have gotten longer, encompassing more episodes and stretching out over months in a way that feels unnecessary to most viewers. All over Married at first sight first snippet of episodes from season 18, It's strange to see so little happeningdespite there already being several episodes of the season. While some viewers are hoping for an extended season, I'm not looking forward to it.

Married at first sight The Season 18 cast was introduced in the first few episodes of the season, and while the stage is set for a dramatic reveal of their relationships, pacing has been an issue. MAFS viewers have struggled for years as the show has gotten longer and longer for seemingly no reason. Married at first sight seasons used to be about a dozen episodes long, and now they've doubled the episode order in most seasons, if not more than that. While viewers enjoy the series, It feels like the show is trying to make the most of each season.

Despite knowing that viewers are interested in the Married at first sight The couples' journeys as they go through their marriages on screen, stretching the show out over so many episodes tends to make some lose interest quickly. While some viewers may not mind seeing less substantial content, I feel that lengthening the material makes it thinner, which creates a lack of interest in what is happening. All over Married at first sight history, the show has changed and changed to suit couples, experts, and viewers' interests. It's unclear why, when viewers struggle to pay attention, the show gets longer.

MAFS has extended its seasons over the years

The show just got infinitely longer

Although MAFS season 18 is just beginning, viewers can look back to the show's previous seasons for clarification on how much things have changed. In the first seasons of Married at first sight, the show averaged 13 episodes per season. Including specials and check-ins after the show, which would last about three months, showing the experiment in full and checking in on participants after the fact. MAFS viewers were satisfied with the length of the seasonas it felt long enough to be invested in, but short enough to not lose interest entirely.

As the show grew and became more intense, Married at first sight the seasons have gotten longer and longer. Although the first ten seasons are about the same length, things started to ramp up in late 2010 and have continued to grow. Seasons had 17 episodes, then 20, and included special episodes to increase the episode count. Married at first sight the 17th season had 25 regular episodes, plus 6 specials to end the season. With the show running from October to April the 6 month period was overwhelming for viewers and caused some to lose interest.

MAFS Wedding Episodes Don't Have to Last Several Weeks

The episodes are very intense

Although Married at first sight often shares more than the average reality TV dating show about its contestants during wedding episodes, the way the show turned them into a month-long event is exhausting. MAFS weddings often lasted an episode or two, introducing the couples and allowing them to get their bearings in their new marriage before taking them on their honeymoon. In recent years, MAFS The producers have made it clear that they want to start the drama as early as possible, involving outside noises at weddings as the bride and groom get to know each other.

The current season of Married at first sight has three episodes about couples' weddings, but with only five couples to follow, things could have been scaled back considerably. While wedding episodes don't necessarily have to follow all five weddings at once, boiling things down to just the most important drama would be helpful for viewers to stay on track. Even though I know that Married at first sight begins with the weddings, some viewers struggle to get through the episodes as they are typically chaotic and difficult to follow. MAFS must find a new way to deliver the wedding episodes.

MAFS Viewers Are Looking for Drama to Start

They want to get into the woods

Although MAFS viewers know there's usually drama in marriage, they're always looking for the best way to address the season's issues. As couples get to know each other, problems often arise and MAFS can change in the blink of an eye. While some couples thrive, others will struggle, and viewers understand that this only starts to happen midway through the season. I think viewers are looking for seasons to be faster, more dramatic and direct with the audience, rather than drawn out and unclear. Married at first sight would do better with a shorter, more impactful season.

Married at first sight airs Tuesdays at 8pm EST on Lifetime.
