I just saw the strange parallel between Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren AhsokaAnd it may give away more about their characters than we initially thought. Both Ezra and Sabine were initially introduced in the animated series Star Wars RebelsAnd their live-action debuts were made in Ahsoka. Ezra Bridger was introduced as an orphan living on his own on his home planet of Lothal, where he eventually came across the Spectres – a group of rebels living on Hera Syndulla’s ship. Ghost. Among the crew was Sabine Rn, a Mandalorian left home after fleeing the Imperial Academy.
throughout RebelsIn four seasons, we got to see Ezra grow not only as a person, but also as a Jedi. when Ahsoka Revealing that Ahsoka Tano is training Sabine Wren as a Jedi didn’t come as a surprise, as Sabine already emulated so many Jedi characteristics after living with Ezra and Kanan Jarrus for years. As it turns out, though, there are more parallels between the pair’s Jedi training journey than initially thought, and I just found one that’s quite funny.
Ezra Bridger struggled to move a cup just like Sabine in Ahsoka
Ezra struggled with using the Force, just like Sabine
in Rebels Season 1, Episode 4 “Fighter Flight,” Ezra Bridger is trying to focus and use the Force to move a cup while in the Ghost. Ezra visibly struggles and eventually loses the battle with the food and gives up. Although this is the beginning of Ezra’s Jedi training, It’s amazing to see where he started, versus where we just saw him at Ahsoka. Ezra Bridger may now be a fully trained and powerful Jedi, but it’s easy to forget that at the beginning of RebelsHe knew nothing.

in Ahsoka Season 1, Episode 3 “Part Three: Time to Fly,” we see Ahsoka Tano continuing Sabine Wren’s training on her ship. It’s clear that Sabine’s ability to access the Force is lacking, and in many ways, it calls into question why Sabine was trained as a Jedi. However, as Ahsoka and Huyang leave, Sabine tries to use the force to move a cup. While we, the crowd, are rooting for her, just like Ezra, she can’t move the cup. Sabine even admits defeat to the cup, implying that their battle is not over yet.
Ezra & Sabine’s similar struggles show just how connected they are as a family
Rebels founded the found family
One of the things that connected everyone on the Ghost in Rebels Is that they all did not or did not speak to their blood family, so instead they made their own. Sabine and Ezra having the same struggle with the movement of something as small as a cup shows that they think in a lot of the same ways, even though the scenes take place more than ten years apart from each other. The reason why Sabine went to Peridea in Ahsoka was to find her missing family in Ezra.

Many joke that Ahsoka Season 1 was spot on Rebels Season 5 in disguise, and in many ways that’s true, but it also holds one of the biggest themes of the show. Ahsoka Felt so much like Rebels Because family, and finding family in particular, was a huge driving force for the characters. This battle of moving a cup parallel between Sabine and Ezra is just another way Ahsoka Connect the letters and points.
