I just noticed the strangest parallel between Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren in Ahsokaand it may reveal more about their characters than we originally thought. Both Ezra and Sabine were originally introduced in the animated series. Star Wars Rebelsand their live debuts took place in Ahsoka. Ezra Bridger was introduced as an orphan living alone on his home planet of Lothal, where he eventually met the Wraiths, a group of rebels living aboard Hera Syndulla’s ship. Ghost. Among this team was Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian who fled her home after escaping from the Imperial Academy.
Through Rebels“Over the course of four seasons, we’ve seen Ezra grow not only as a person, but as a Jedi. When Ahsoka When it was revealed that Ahsoka Tano was training Sabine Wren to be a Jedi, it didn’t come as a surprise because Sabine already emulated many of the characteristics of a Jedi after years of living with Ezra and Kanan Jarrus. However, as it turns out, there are more parallels between the pair’s Jedi training trips than originally thought, and I just found one that’s quite strange.
Ezra Bridger struggled to move the cup like Sabine in Ahsoka
Ezra, like Sabine, fought with force
IN Rebels Season 1, Episode 4 “Fighter Flight”, Ezra Bridger tries to focus and use the Force to move a cup while in Ghost. Ezra clearly struggles and ultimately loses the battle with the dishes and gives up. Although this is the beginning of Ezra’s Jedi training, it’s amazing to see where he started compared to where we just saw him Ahsoka. Ezra Bridger may be a fully trained and powerful Jedi now, but it’s easy to forget that early in the game. Rebelshe didn’t know anything.
IN Ahsoka In Season 1, Episode 3, “Part Three: Time to Fly,” we see Ahsoka Tano continuing Sabine Wren’s training aboard her ship. It is clear that Sabine lacks the ability to access the Force, and in many ways this calls into question why Sabine is being trained as a Jedi. However, as Ahsoka and Huyang leave, Sabine attempts to use the Force to move the cup. Although we, the audience, are rooting for her, as is Ezra, she fails to move the cup. Sabina even admits defeat in the cup, implying that their battle is not over yet.
Ezra and Sabine’s struggles like this show how connected they are as a family
Rebels founded this found family
One of the things that united everyone on board Ghost V Rebels is that they all didn’t have or talk to their blood family, so they created their own instead. Sabine and Ezra having the same difficulty moving something small, such as a cup, show that they think much alike, even though these scenes take place more than ten years apart. The reason why Sabina went to Peridea in Ahsoka had to find her missing family in Ezra.

Many people joke that Ahsoka the first season was easy Rebels season five is in disguise, and in many ways that’s true, but it also continues one of the show’s most important themes. Ahsoka felt so similar Rebels because family, and in particular newfound family, was a huge driving force for the characters. This fight to move the cup between Sabine and Ezra is just another way Ahsoka connects these characters and shows.
