THE Star Wars The franchise is full of tragic stories, famously those of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, but the most tragic belongs to the characters who were an essential part of the stories of these two Jedi. Tragedy is a fundamental part of Star Wars prequel trilogy, a story that details how one of the galaxy's greatest heroes fell to the dark side and became Darth Vader. Because of this, many characters were caught in the crossfire, making it a devastating time for the galaxy as a whole.
There was, however, one group in particular that was perhaps the most caught between the Galactic Republic and the Galactic Empire. These characters were literally created for the devastation that would result from the fall of the Republic, while unknowingly contributing to its downfall in the process. They were forced to serve a system that would eventually spit them out anyway, and had no choice but to carry out one of the deadliest purges in the history of the galaxy. These were the men that Anakin and Obi-Wan commanded during the Clone Wars.
The Clones tell the most tragic story in Star Wars
Forced to fight and kill against their will
From long before their creation to all of their deaths, there is no doubt that the clones have the most tragic story of all time. Star Wars. These are men who were raised for war, a war that wasn't even theirs, and they had no choice to fight that war in the name of the Republic.under the leadership of the Jedi. Fortunately, these Jedi generals - at least most of them - treated their men well and respected the identities the clones established for themselves, but this relationship only made it more painful when Order 66 occurred.
The clones certainly didn't have freedom, but it was even worse than imagined due to the secret inhibitor chips placed inside their heads. The activation of these chips is what resulted in Order 66, when the clones were forced to attack their Jedi generals and kill them. The clones were then forced to serve the Empire that supplanted the Republic, but even this involuntary servitude did not last long. The Empire soon replaced the clones with recruited soldiers known as stormtroopers.and the lack of protection for the clones left them abandoned and displaced.
Anakin and Obi-Wan unfortunately took action in their tragedy
They led these men into battles
These other two tragic figures, Anakin and Obi-Wan, unfortunately participated in the clone trooper tragedy the entire time. As Jedi generals during the Clone Wars, with Anakin leading the 501st Legion and Obi-Wan leading the 212th Strike Battalion, both Anakin and Obi-Wan led these men into many different battles. As the highest points in their respective chains of command, they also undoubtedly participated in disciplining the clone troopers who also tried to find a way out.even if they had sympathy for those men.
They did not intentionally contribute to the suffering of these men, but that does not minimize the role they played in this greater tragedy.
Anakin and Obi-Wan were two of the ideal men to have as leaders during the Clone Wars, as they became quite close to their men and tried to save as many of their lives as possible. This is especially true when we remember that there were Jedi generals as cruel as Pong Krell, the Besalisk who fell to the dark side and purposely killed as many clones as possible with his reckless tactics on Umbara. They did not intentionally contribute to the suffering of these men, but that does not minimize the role they played in this greater tragedy.
Hopefully more than a handful of clones got a happy ending
More than just Rex, Wolffe and Clone Force 99
Fortunately, there are some clones whose stories didn't end in complete tragedy, even if they still suffered a lot along the way. We know that Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor survived together until the Age of Rebellion, with Rex surviving long enough to see the Battle of Endor. More recently, we learned that Clone Force 99, bar Tech and Echo, were able to live a peaceful life on Pabu Island after freeing Omega and the clone prisoners from Mount Tantiss, with Omega eventually leaving to join the Rebel Alliance.
Right now, these are the closest things we have to happy endings for any of the clones, but thankfully, these aren't the only cases. Many of Tantiss's clone prisoners were taken to the planet Pantorawhere they probably managed to live their lives in peace under the protection of Senator Riyo Chuchi, known as a defender of the clones. There are still rumors of a clone rebellion in Star Warsand although we know they could not have been entirely successful, I hope they were able to free even more brothers.
