Warning: contains spoilers Wolverine: Revenge #3!!
Colossus is a mutant powerhouse, but even his physical abilities and organic steel body don’t normally make him from Hulk equal. An alternate reality fight with Wolverine has finally revealed that Piotr Rasputin rivals the Incredible Hulk in strength after completing one of the Green Avenger’s most controversial feats. By ripping off one of Logan’s arms, Colossus becomes one of three beings capable of tearing Wolverine apart.
Wolverine: Revenge #3 brings the confrontation Wolverine has been waiting for. After killing the rest of the Brotherhood, he finds his former friend, Piotr Rasputin, to end things completely. The shared history wasn’t enough to keep Colossus fighting for the good guys, just as it wasn’t enough for Logan to spare his former comrade’s life.
Taking down Colossus is not easy, however, as the fight begins with Piotr doing a maneuver that was exaggerated even for the Hulk. As Wolverine struggles to balance, Colossus rips off his right arm, exposing the adamantium-covered bone and his incredible strength.
Colossus dismembers Wolverine, putting him at a power level equal to that of Hulk and Wendigo
Wolverine: Revenge #3 by Jonathan Hickman, Greg Capullo, FCO Plascencia and Cory Petit
Along with Wolverine’s ultra-powerful healing factor, the adamantium plating that covers his skeleton helps him survive unimaginable injuries. Few things can actually damage adamantium, let alone harness the brute force required to shatter it. Wolverine suffered this bloody fate for the first time in Ultimate Wolverine vs.when Hulk literally ripped him in two. Hulk is easily one of the strongest beings in the Marvel Universe, but destroying adamantium was a surprise even for him. An encounter with a Wendigo in Wolverine #37 offered a repeat performance, meaning Colossus now joins a small – but scary – group of three.
Although it came at the expense of his former friend, this feat is a considerable power upgrade for Colossus. He’s one of Marvel’s best heavyweights, but rivaling the Hulk makes him an undisputed A-list powerhouse. Many of Piotr’s best moments are the result of self-sacrifice and a soft heart, but this time it’s the ability physical and absolute violence. The move shows how far he has fallen, when he went from being the “heart” of the X-men to easily tearing apart a friend. Colossus performed the grotesque move with such ease that Wolverine’s adamantium looked like mere scrap metal.
Colossus has Hulk-level strength, but still can’t kill Wolverine
In his fight, Colossus didn’t go as far as Hulk or Wendigo. He grabbed an arm, rather than pulling Wolverine in half, and consequently didn’t make enough of an impact. As invigorating as the injury was, Logan didn’t stay down for long – or at all. It’s still a reference to how strong Piotr really is, and presumably he would have the same brute strength in the main timeline. It wasn’t enough to end his friend’s life, but it showed a new side of the Russian mutant. When tearing wolverine adamantium skeleton, Colossus proved that it rivals the Hulk in strength.
