Hulk
is not only one of the strongest Avengers, but is unrivaled in the Marvel Universe in terms of sheer power, with his power on the battlefield often acting as the tipping point for whatever conflict Earth’s heroes currently find themselves in. Capable of feats that shame the gods, one of these achievements proved once and for all whether the Hulk can break, bend, or shatter adamantium, with the answer coming in the form of several comic books which show him interacting directly with this versatile and durable metal.
Standing his ground against Juggernaut, Abomination, The Thing, Sentry, and even the entire Avengers team, Hulk is not the type of character to be taken lightly, with his unbeatable strength tied to the raging rage that constantly boils within him.
In Incredible Hulk #300Along with two other examples from the Green Goliath’s long and storied history, Hulk decides whether he can unequivocally damage adamantium with a test of power that sees him shatter a statue made entirely of the material, proving that Hulk can actually break and even bend adamantium if he puts enough effort into it.
Yes, Hulk can bend and even break Adamantium with his bare hands
Incredible Hulk #300 – 1984 (Bill Mantlo and Sal Buscema) and World War Hulk #3 – 2007 (Greg Pak and John Romita Jr.)
Separate from Bruce Banner at the time, this issue follows Hulk as he is hunted by authorities and the Avengers. Stronger and angrier than usual, Hulk can’t stop breaking things, with his destructive actions eventually leading to a 1v1 fight against the God of Thunder himself, Thor. Sent against an adamantium statue in the likeness of his burly self, the force of the Hulk’s mass hitting the sculpture ends up breaking it, with the Jade Giant’s renewed anger as he saw him grab the statue by the base and, as he hoisted it above his head, fracture it even further.
Soon disarmed by Thor thanks to a well-aimed Mjolnir, this story shows how Hulk has the power to damage adamantium no matter what form it takes, with this exclusive moment from the comics referenced once again in World War Hulk #3where in a flashback sequence, Hulk’s epic battle with Thor is revisited. Depicting the same statue that Hulk almost destroyed in Incredible Hulk #300the narration by General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross confirms that the statue was made from “ten tons of pure adamantium,” with the next panel showing Hulk, as before, using the cracked effigy as a weapon to attack Thor.
Hulk has proven multiple times that he can bend Adamantium through brute force
Marvel Team #18 – 1973 (Len Wein and Gil Kane)
Furthermore, in Marvel Team #18Hulk and Human Torch fight the villain Blastaar, with Torch eventually telling Hulk to pick up some nearby adamantium debris from their battle to trap him. Instructing Hulk to tighten the metal around Blastaar as best he can since “…the thicker the adamantium shield, the greater the chances of him holding off Blastaar”, Hulk does as he is tolddefeating Blastaar reinforced by the robustness of adamantium. Through these stories and more, it is shown time and time again that Hulk can bend and break adamantium with his bare hands, and if pressed, likely destroy it as well.
