The first look Bridget Jones: crazy about the boy has arrived and teases the role of Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) in this new story, and it is very different from the previous films. Bridget Jones’ (Renée Zellweger) story is not over and, unfortunately, there was a great tragedy in her family that brought her back for the final chapter of her film series. Based on the 2013 novel by Helen Fielding Crazy about the boythe room Bridget Jones The film brings together the audience with the title character, now a widow and mother of two children.
Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) passed away four years ago during a humanitarian mission in Sudan. Struggling to cope with Darcy’s death and life as a single mother, Bridget is encouraged by her loved ones to start a new chapter in her lifeand she is introduced to the world of modern dating. Accompanying Bridget in this new era of her life is Daniel Cleaver, her former lover and Darcy’s former friend, who is believed to have died in Bridget Jones’s Baby but he was revealed to be alive at the end – and he has a whole new role now.
Daniel Cleaver will not be a love interest in Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy
Daniel Cleaver has a new role in the life of Bridget Jones
Daniel Cleaver was originally intended to be part of Bridget Jones’s Babybut creative differences with Hugh Grant led him to quit (via People). To fill the vacancy left by Grant’s Cleaver, Bridget Jones’s Baby introduced Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey), a billionaire mathematician who Bridget meets and has a one-night stand at a music festival. Jack became part of Bridget and Darcy’s love triangle as there was a chance he could be the father of Bridget’s baby. About that, Cleaver reportedly died in a plane crash.
Cleaver seems more like an ally to Bridget as she deals with Darcy’s death – although that doesn’t mean he can’t flirt with her a little.
At the end of Bridget Jones’s Babyit was revealed that Darcy was the father of Bridget’s child and they eventually married, while a newspaper headline revealed that Cleaver was found alive. When Grant’s return was announced, it was expected that Bridget Jones: crazy about the boy would have him as part of Bridget’s new triangle, but thankfully the trailer suggests that’s no longer the case. Cleaver seems more like an ally to Bridget as she deals with Darcy’s death – although that doesn’t mean he can’t flirt with her a little.
At the end of the trailer Bridget Jones: crazy about the boyCleaver shows up at Bridget’s house and is greeted by his son, Billy, who calls him “Uncle Daniel”. This points to Cleaver and Darcy making up at some point before the latter’s death (as in the book) and Cleaver being a much-needed support for Bridget now that Darcy is gone – after all, Cleaver knows her very well. This ends the tiring, confusing and toxic love interest storyline between Bridget and Cleaver, bringing freshness to the story and allowing the audience to wonder who Bridget will choose in this new chapter of her life.
Daniel Cleaver is still a playboy in Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy
Daniel Cleaver is not entirely a new man
Daniel Cleaver may no longer be a love interest for Bridget, but that doesn’t mean he’s a completely different man. What makes Daniel Cleaver unique is how much of a playboy he isso much so that Bridget learned the hard way (twice) that he is not a committed man. The trailer for Bridget Jones: crazy about the boy makes a point of showing that this side of Cleaver remains intact and that everyone knows it – including Bridget’s children.
In the aforementioned scene with Cleaver and Billy, the latter asks “Uncle Daniel” where the women are.”with the big [something]” are, with Daniel completing the question with “hair” and saying that the three of them are washing each other’s hair and hair. Daniel Cleaver may still be the same in his relationships, just not with Bridgetand it’s a huge relief to see that, at least with her, he’s grown and changed enough to see her as a friend and support her and her family.
