How to update your camera on Infinity Nikki

With so many things to do in Infinite NikkiFiguring out how to update your camera can be a little tricky. There is no tutorial telling where to go, leaving players to find the upgrade menu on their own. You get Momo's Camera at the start of the game, which gives you some poses, lighting options, and filters, but doesn't tell you how to get more.

Like any dress-up game, taking photos is one of the community's most appreciated features. There's something satisfying about taking the right photo to show off your new outfit, and it's even more fun to see what cute combos other players have created. You can increase the quality of your photography by upgrading your camera, as long as you have the materials to do so.

Use your upgrade packs to purchase levels

Camera update menu in Infinity Nikki

Just like leveling up and shining your clothes, you need certain materials to upgrade Momo's camera parts. The menu can be found in the top right corner of the camera interface, next to the button that takes you to your photo album. On PC, the hotkey for the update menu is linked to “U,” while holding Start or Options gives you access to the buttons in the top-right corner of a controller.

Once you enter the update screen, you will receive a tutorial explaining how to update the camera and what the various updates do. There are three different types of updatesand each of them does something different. Each upgrade type offers unique additions to your camera at each level, up to 12:

Update type

Effect

Lighting

This option allows for different colors and light angles to create more unique photo compositions.

Pose

This option gives Nikki more ways to pose for photos, allowing you to add some personality to your photos.

Filter

This option puts a color filter or effect on your photos, which is an easier way to add a color or style to your photos that you're looking for.

In each level you will have a new effect, pose or filter to use. They stay unlocked forever and more will likely be added as the game's life continues, so be sure to update as you go and use your update packages. These packs are the currency used to upgrade your camera and can only come from a few places.

Where to get camera update packages

Certain quests and the Wishfield Expedition Book

There are a few ways to get upgrade packs to upgrade your camera, but you can only get three or more packs per activity, so it will take some time to get enough to fully upgrade the camera. The most reliable way to do this is through the Wishfield Expedition journalwhich you will receive once you acquire your camera at the beginning of the game. This book is full of places to visit and photograph in Wishfield.

As you run through Wishfield, you might notice a gold camera reticle appearing every now and then. This means you are close to one of the 40 Wishfield Expedition sites. To capture the location and earn your reward, take a photo after the golden targeting reticle appears on the camera. Be sure to click the "Upload" button to add the photo to your Expedition Log or the photo will not count.

Each Expedition photo will yield three upgrade packs, and with 40 to go, you'll earn 120 upgrade packs and a “special encounter.” This encounter allows you to take one final photo to complete your photo album. It appears that the encounter was not working properly at the game's launch, but is now fully functional.

The other two ways to get upgrade packs to make your camera fully functional are by completing the “Forced Perspective” and “Photographic Investigation” missions. Both are random mission types, which means the only way to unlock them is to run around the locations where they are supposed to appear and wait for them to appear. This will give you a few more upgrade packs per completed mission.

You will need 189 to fully upgrade your camera in Infinite Nikkithen you have your work cut out for you. Between taking photos of Wishfield's many beautiful locations and playing with perspective in the random missions you encounter, you'll be a photography pro in no time. More photography challenges are likely to be added to the game as it is updatedSo keep an eye out in the future for more chances to get upgrade packages and make your camera even better.
