As older entries in Devil franchise, Devil 4: Vase of Hatred brings back the classic Torment difficulty system. Replacing the world level mechanic, the new leveling system will allow players to start on Normal or Hard difficulty and increase after completing in-game milestones. Torment will allow players push for even greater difficulties with more lucrative rewards like better equipment and glyph upgrades.
When a player reaches level 60, they can dive into Artificers’ Well. Similar to Cracks in Devil 3players can progress deeper and deeper into the Pit to test the absolute limit of their builds. Upon reaching certain levels in the pit, higher Torment difficulties will unlock and increase the challenge.

What changes with torment levels
Starting in Torment I, Unique ancient and mythical items now it will start to fall. These items will always have a minimum of one major affix and let it fall into maximum item level 800. All other items can only go up to level 750.

Tormented Bosses will now also be available in Torment levels, with Torment I bosses discarding better items and increasing each level. At higher levels of Torment, you will also gain more gem fragments to level up your gem even faster.

How to progress in the well
Once at level 60, players can begin challenging the Artificers’ Wellalso known as “The Well.” This dungeon can be found in Cerrigar, Scosglen by interacting with the obelisk, similar to activating Greater Rifts in New Tristram in Devil 3. This dungeon features randomized layouts and enemies, with each attempt providing a new experience.
To start a new race in the Pit, players will need to provide three Craftsman’s Stones. These items can be obtained through various game events and challenges, such as Hell Tides, Whispering Tree Cachesand World Boss Events. Once you have three stones, you can activate the Well and choose a level.
To increase levels in the Pit, you must complete the dungeons within fifteen minutes. The faster you complete the race, more levels you will unlock. There are a total of 150 levelswith each new level providing better rewards.

- Four to six Minutes remaining: 2 levels
- Six more Minutes remaining: 3 levels
Previously, glyph improvements were only possible in Devil 4Nightmare Dungeons. However, Nightmare Dungeons rewarded players with exploration and was a time-consuming method of leveling glyphs. Now, glyphs are leveled through pit runsallowing for faster progression.
For every 20 levels of difference between the Pit level and the glyph rank, a Additional bonus update will be available. This will allow players to more quickly reach low-level glyphs.
Torment difficulty levels are unlocked completing higher levels of The Pitalone or in a group. Each time you advance through a new threshold level of The Pit, you can increase the difficulty to the next higher Torment level.

Once you reach Torment IV, you can continue fighting for the highest possible rewards in Devil 4: Vase of Hatred. Additional Pit levels will continue to increase the challenge and allow you to unlock max-level equipment and items to perfect your build.
