Final Fantasy XIVPatch 7.15 is out now and with it comes a new Hildibrand adventure, “The case of the displaced inspector.” Hildibrand has become a much-loved fan-favorite character since her introduction in 2.1. Originally designed as a fun set of side quests to help players between the base campaign and the To the sky expansion, the absurd adventures of gentleman detective Hildibrand Manderville and friends have since become a central part of the MMO, even playing a role in the Relic quest during the latest expansion, Endwalker.
Hildibrand's side quests have always been praised for their delightfully cartoonish plots, over-the-top action scenes, and adorably silly characters. Little has changed in this, even now, when we are firmly in the post-Dawn trail patch territory, Hildibrand and the Mandervilles are inextricably linked to FFXIV tradition, and the man himself is back with an all-new adventure. Players look forward to new Hildibrand content whenever post-launch patches appear, and this time is no exception. Here's how to find and start Hildibrand's new quest in FFXIV update 7.15.
Hildibrand Quests in Dawntrail Requirements
History and level prerequisites
To start the new Hildibrand quest in patch 7.15, you will need to have achieved the following three things:
- Disciple of War or Magic level 100
- MSQ completed”Dawn trail“
- Completed Hildibrand's previous side quest”Gentlemen of heart“
In short, the first requirement means that you need to reach the maximum level of your job to start Hildibrand's new quest in update 7.15. It doesn't matter if you're playing as one of the new Dawn trail unique classes like Pictomancer, or an old classic like Warrior or Black Mage – as long as you're level 100 and fit to fight, you're good to go. Unfortunately, no Disciples of the Hand or Earth are welcome here. If you know you've leveled up at least one class to 100 but still can't start the quest, make sure you have the correct primary weapon equipped.
Next, You must have completed the main story mission in “Dawn trail” to begin Hildibrand's new mission. In fact, this means that you must have completed the entire Dawn trail MSQ, until the end. You'll want to see”Continued” in the next MSQ window in the upper left corner of the screen.
And finally, you need to have completed Hildibrand's previous quest, “Gentlemen of heart“, to begin with”The case of the displaced inspector.” You can start this quest by speaking to Godbert in Thavnair, at coordinates X:22 Y:34. Of course, this search is part of the Endwalker Hildibrand's quest line, so you may need to go back to “The sleeping gentleman“in Radz-at-Han. For this quest, you must have completed everything by the end of Endwalkerand meet up with the Excitable Youth at X: 11.8 Y: 11.2.
And if you need to go back even further, see the chart below for each Hildibrand mission and starting location. Please note that you must have completed each expansion's MSQ to undertake Hildibrand's quests.

Kugane (X: 10.6 Y: 9.8) |
Endwalker |
“The sleeping gentleman“ |

If you haven't yet met all the prerequisites, don't worry; Hildibrand's new mission will certainly last a while. Just because it's part of the current patch doesn't mean it will disappear in the next update.
Where to start “The Case of the Displaced Inspector”
7.15 Hildibrand mission location
To start the new Hildibrand quest in patch 7.15, simply go to Tuliyollal and look for Nashuwhich should be a pretty familiar NPC at this point in the Manderville quest.
