How to solve the board game room

One of the most challenging puzzles players encounter in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is the game room inside the hidden pyramid in the last major region of Sukhothai. This room is the first one you'll encounter upon entering the pyramid, but it's not a particularly well-explained puzzle, which can make it difficult to get right without a little help.

Using a few different doors that are opened by different pegs on the game board makes this a difficult puzzle to solve without a lot of trial and error. Although it's not very clear exactly what the goal is here - I certainly didn't have a hard time solving the puzzle itself, but rather with what it actually means in the context of the story. - the solution itself is very easy once you know what you are doing.

How the board game works

Move the L-shaped pegs to progress

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Game Room

Known as the Nephilim Game in the Games Room, solving the board game is the culmination of patience and observation skills. After entering the hidden pyramid with Indy and Gina, you will find a strange board in the center of the game room. Some of the pieces have a hooked L-shaped appearance and the rest are short and stubby. There are also two additional studs in an alcove on the left side of the room. These two pins can be added to the board in a certain way to open another panel on the right next to the message that can be found on the wall.

The pin plate is arranged in a 3-5-5-5-3 format, with a total of 6 small pins that can be found and 4 L-shaped pins to fill the open holes. You will start with 3 pegs – including the two found on the wall – which will be used for the first puzzle and you will get three additional pegs. As you move the small pegs to different holes on the board, the L-shaped pegs immediately next to them move in 90° increments counterclockwise. The aim of the puzzle is Face all the L-shaped pegs in specific directions based on the part of the puzzle you are facing.

Aligning statues and stakes

There are two parts to the Game Room puzzle, the first being tackling all the L-shaped stones on the right to acquire more tiny pegs, and the second being face all the L-shaped pegs to face the statue. When you enter the room, one of the small movable pegs is already placed on the board. If you look to the left of the room, you will find the two stones needed for the first solution in the alcove..

Since there is already a stone on the board, you will have to remove it to reset the board and prepare it for the first puzzle. You will need to arrange the stones to place them in a diagonal line across the center of the board between the pegs so that each one moves. Once all the L-shaped stones are facing right towards the panel on the wall, the panel will open and three more stones will be revealed. After collecting all three stones, remove all stones from the board to restart the puzzle.

From here you will move on to the last part of the puzzle where all L-shaped pegs facing the statue at the front of the room. It will be necessary for all six pegs to now face the statues, lined up in a zigzag pattern in the center of the game board. There will be two movable pegs on each center line of the game board, with two flanking the frontmost L-shaped peg, one on each side of the leftmost L-shaped peg on the center line, and then two on each side of the lowest pin.

Once you have all the pins facing forward, the the statue will move to the side to reveal a hidden message. From here, look at the message and take a photo of it to complete the Game Room puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
