Forging the Sword of Kings is a multi-stage task that requires in-depth exploration of the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remakebut it can reward you with one of the best weapons in the game. According to tradition, the Sword of Kings was once kept under lock and key in Tantegel, but was eventually released by one of the DQ3main antagonists (which I won’t spoil here). This villain ended up destroying the Sword of Kings, so it couldn’t be used against him, but his hero could start forging a new one.
To do this, you will need to collect different parts from around DQ3map ofthen take them back to a skilled blacksmith to put everything back together. Once you’ve done all of this, you’ll have access to what might be the best sword in the game (at least until the end of the main story). See how you can put it all together.
Where to find the forging hammer
And the forge
You’ll first find a blacksmith capable of reforging the Sword of Kings in Kol, working at the counter of the town’s item shop. He will give a short monologue about how his life has lost all meaning: he was a master blacksmith, but he lost his hammer when he had to leave Jipang. Consider this your first clue and zoom in/travel to Jipang Island to begin your search.
In Jipang City, you’ll want to find the blacksmith’s house, which is the northwest-most building on the map. If you need a reference point, find a well in central Jipang, west of the town church. To the left of this well is the old blacksmith’s housewhere you will find your lost tools. If you are having trouble locating his house in this city, ask around. There is an NPC outside, who will mention that a talented blacksmith lived here.
Just enter the old blacksmith’s house and pick up the hammer, which is located inside a jar in the lower left corner of the screen. It’s shining a lot, so it’s hard to miss. Before returning to Kol and giving the blacksmith the missing tools, you’ll need to spend some time looking for the other materials first. Note, however, that the forge hammer will not be available until you defeat Baramos in Dragon Quest 3.
Where to find orichalcum
Parts and labor
You may have already encountered Orichalcum along your journey, as its location is clearly marked. But if you haven’t, The Orichalcum is located inside a corral on the south side of Damdara. Ask around the city if you’re not sure; local residents will point out the pasture.
Damdara is located south of Tantegel and can be easily accessed by crossing the desert. You will be able to see the Orichalcum shining in the distancethen simply climb up and grab it. See the image above for a reference point of Orichalcum’s location. With this, you can move on to the final phase of this quest: finding the original Sword of Kings.
Where to find the broken blade
The Original Sword of Kings
Next, you will need to go to Cantlin to find the Broken Blade. This is a treacherous area and you will probably have to trek through some poisonous swamps to access the town if you have never been before. If that’s the case, make sure someone in your party knows the Safe Passage spell so you don’t have to risk your life to get in.
When in Cantlin, enter the town’s westernmost building, a large, nearly square structure just west of the large lake in its central plaza. On the second floor, in the leftmost room, there is a broken sword on a side table. Interact with it and the scholar working in that room will agree to hand it over to you, no questions asked.
With all the materials on hand, you can return to the blacksmith in Kol who will repair the Sword of Kings for you. In addition to being a powerful sword in its own right, the Sword of Kings will reward you with the “Imposing Sword“achievement/trophy. Most importantly, it is a powerful tool for final boss battles in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake.
