In Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remakethe Ultimate Key is one of the most important items to acquire. There are dozens of locked doors across the red, blue and silver map. The Thief’s Key unlocks the red doors, the Magic Key unlocks the blue doors and the Ultimate Key unlocks any and all doors. I recommend finding the Ultimate Key as soon as possible, as many items and equipment are locked behind doors.
You must have acquired black pepper in order for the King of Portoga to receive your ship so you can sail the seas in search of the Ultimate Key. With your new gifted ship, you must now sail around the world to collect the orbs to awaken the Everbird and face boss Baramos. However, unlike the previous two keys, Finding the Ultimate Key is a multi-step process This requires another important relic: the Bottomless Pot.
Where to Get the Ultimate Key Part 1 (Bottomless Pot Puzzle)
Get the bottomless pot
To find the final key, First you need to get your hands on the Bottomless Pot. This relic is located in the northwestern island nation of Edinawhich is protected by guards who refuse entry to strangers. You can use the Fade or Fading Jenny spell to make yourself and your recruited characters invisible, so you can sneak past the guards and get to the castle basement.
Once in the hold, you will find a puzzle in which three stones must be moved onto pressure plates without pushing them into the water. If an error is made, the puzzle can be easily resetso don’t worry about accidents. Once the puzzle is complete, you can go to the open door at the back of the room to find a chest containing the Bottomless Pot and a humorous note about its purpose.

Where to Get Ultimate Key Part 2 (Shallow Shrine Location)
Start at the Dwarven Sanctuary
With the Bottomless Pot in your possession, you must reach the center of the northern ocean, between the northeast and northwest continents. The Dwarf SanctuaryLocated on the snowy tip of the massive forest region, it’s an excellent place to start. After sailing east a bit, you’ll come across a group of large rocks that mark the location of the Shallow Shrine, which houses the Ultimate Key.
When you reach these rocks, a prompt will appear asking if you want to throw the Bottomless Pot into the sea. Select “Yes” to watch a cutscene that reveals the Shallow Shrine beneath the waves, allowing the party to enter its depths. Once inside, you can loot the chest in the center of the room to make the Ultimate Key yours.
A Mini Medal is hidden on the floor north of the chest containing the Ultimate Key.
H2: What The Ultimate Key does in the DQ3 remake
Unlock all doors
With the Ultimate Key in hand, you can now visit several notable locations that hold items locked behind silver doors, just like with the Thief’s Key. DQ3 HD2D and the Magic Key. Castle Romaria houses the Assassin’s Dagger and Storm Shield, which are awesome items for the Thief and Martial Artist. There are also some Mini Medals locked behind silver doors, which can be collected for additional prizes at the well in Aliahan.
