How to start smelting gold bars
There are two main places players should look for gold ore: On floating islands and in grottos. Gold ore appears over the floating islands in the Lost Isle, which is the easiest way to get gold ore quickly. To mine gold ore, players need a rare or epic-quality pickaxeAs common and uncommon-quality pickaxes cannot break down gold ore.
Gold ore can also be found in grottos, which are caves that can also be found throughout the Lost Isles. However, although they may contain veins of gold ore, Grottos tend to be a bit harder to find, and players may need to spend more time searching for them. To save time, the best approach is to go to floating islands: they are much easier to find and can be reached with geysers and a glider.
The easiest way I found to reach floating islands was to stand on a geyser and use it to launch into the air. Deploying a glider allows you to slow your descent and glide between floating islands towards My Ore.
Gold ore can be processed into gold bars in a metal smelter workbench. Each gold bar requires two gold ore and a torch to craft. It’s worth noting that players won’t actually get any of the following crafting recipes until they smelt their ore into gold bars:
