Power spots have started to appear on the map Pokémon GOBring glowing pink landmarks to the game for the first time ever. The mysterious spots signal the imminent arrival of Dynamaxing, a new feature that will let trainers take on giant-sized Pokemon in exciting max battles. But for now, they simply exist to deliver max particles to anyone who interacts with them.
The main line Pokemon Sword & Shield Games on Nintendo Switch introduced trainers to the Galar region, a land inspired by the United Kingdom. As well as a slew of new Pokemon like the adorable water-type Sobble, the game featured dynamaxing, letting Pokemon grow to skyscraper heights and receive devastating attacks. Five years later, this exciting feature is now coming to Pokémon GO by Power Spots.

However, this feature is being saved for the GO Big event, which begins on September 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
The first Dynamax Pokemon to take over Power Spots will be Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Skwovet and Wooloo, all of which will appear in One-Star Max Battles. You’ll need to team up with other trainers to defeat them, just like regular raid battles in gyms. Finally, it’s worth noting that Power Spots aren’t always like PokéStops, so their locations will change over time. They also do not replace existing PokéStops or Gyms.

I went out to look for power spots as soon as they were live in the UK and noticed that there were Much more of them appear in busy areas than in quieter parts of the city. This is most likely the case worldwide, similar to how PokéStops are more frequent in locations with heavy footfall. If you are a rural trainer, you may struggle to find power spots in your local area.

Visit power spots and complete research tasks
The main way to collect max particles in Pokémon GO is to Go out to explore and interact with as many power spots as you can. Each time you find one, you will be able to collect 120 max particles by tapping on them, then rinse and repeat in a new location. According to the in-game Power Spot Tracker, it is A limit of 1000 max particles per daySo once you have reached this number, you will need to wait for the following day to get more.
You can sometimes see power spots glowing in the distance on the map screen, but if you can’t spot any that way, you can also Browse a list of nearby power spots by tapping the “next to” button in the bottom-right corner of the screen And then scrolling across to the “make room” Tag. This is a newly added section that shows nearby power spots in order of distance. You can also track how many Max Particles you’ve collected here.
Each Power Spot has a countdown that lets you know how long they’ll be there, which is ideal for planning ahead. You can Collect max particles from a power spot once per daySo if you know that it will disappear in a few hours, you don’t need to return to that place the next day.
