Warning: This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Terrifier 3 and the Terrifier 2 Director’s Commentary!
In Terrifying 3Sienna’s wounds heal when she is away from her sword, a departure from the previous film that provides hints about the character and her mystical weapon. THE Terrifying and the Art the Clown film franchise began with a series of short films that foreshadowed the transition of feature films from a traditional gore horror film to a supernatural horror horror film. Although Art the Clown starts out as a human serial killer, he becomes a demon in the second film, making it much less stopping him.
Happily, Terrifying 2 introduces the only person who might be able to take him down – a young woman named Sienna Shaw. Although she seems like an ordinary teenager when first introduced, she possesses the courage and resilience to face the immortal clown. Furthermore, at the end of Terrifying 2, the film reveals that her sword can heal her and bring her back to life. It’s not surprising when Art the Clown comes after her again in Terrifying 3; however, the show distorts existing lore by having Sienna heal without the sword, a peculiar event with two explanations.
Sienna’s cuts from the sword explain her healing
At the end of Terrifying 3Sienna uses her sword to save her cousin Gabby from falling into a hole in the ground that leads to Hell. Sienna grabs the blade part of the sword, creating huge cuts on her palms. After accidentally dropping Gabby and the sword, her wounds still heal. This is a huge change from Terrifying 2where Sienna’s wounds can heal, but only when she is holding the sword.
Ultimately, the reason she still heals without the gun is that it caused the cuts. The sword does not have the ability to permanently harm Sienna because she is apparently supernaturally linked to the sword even when they are apart.
Does Sienna have regenerative healing powers in Terrifier now?
Rather than having regenerative powers imbued into her body, it appears that Sienna’s healing abilities come exclusively from her sword, as non-sword wounds are not healed at the end of Terrifier 3. However, there is another possible explanation for what happened that can be extrapolated from Damian Leone’s statements in the Terrifying 2 Director’s Commentary, which consists of significant spoilers for the overall story.
She may have limited regenerative healing powers until the end of the Terrifying 3considering she can now heal without a sword in her hands.
In the Blu-ray’s extra content, Leone confirms that the sword was ordinary until the nightmare fire baptized it, making it supernatural. The director also said that the sword cannot harm Sienna as it is her weapon. Furthermore, he states that Sienna changed after being killed in Terrifying 2becoming immortal and absorbing some of the magic. Combining these three factors, it is possible that each interaction with Art the Clown and the sword increased Sienna’s magical abilities. She may have limited regenerative healing powers until the end of the Terrifying 3considering she can now heal without a sword in her hands.
