Desmond Hart is perhaps the most intriguing character so far in Dune: Prophecy, played by Travis Fimmel, who perfectly embodies the experienced warrior. In Dune: Prophecy episode 1, Desmond is introduced as a warrior who has made several tours of the desert planet Arrakis, the sole survivor of a recent attack on the desert planet. However, it is later revealed that Desmond was swallowed by a sandworm after the attack. Somehow, Desmond managed to survive and reveals his mysterious new power at the end of Dune: Prophecy episode 1. This power allowed him to burn Pruwet Richese (Charlie Hodson-Prior) and Reverend Mother Kasha (Jihae) using only his mind.

The sandworm that swallowed Desmond Hart could be Shai-Hulud
In Dune: ProphecyEmperor Corrino watches as Desmond is swallowed by the sandworm in shock. For the Emperor, there is no conceivable way Desmond could have survived being swallowed by a sandwormbut somehow he did. Based on Desmond’s new outlook on life and the Empire’s vision, it appears he was swallowed by the sandworm and then re-emerged a new man. This raises the question of whether the sandworm let Desmond survive.
As Desmond has become the main opposition to Valya’s sisterhood, this theory suggests that the One God does not want the Bene Gesserit to rule the Empire.
In Dune: Prophecy episode 2, there is mention of Shai-Hulud. For Fremen, the term Shai-Hulud refers to the One God who created and rules the universe. Seen by the Fremen as a giant sandworm, it is possible that Desmond was swallowed by Shai-Hulud. If that is the case, then the One God allowed Desmond to live so that he could oppose the Bene Gesserit. How else could Desmond have survived the sandworm
Desmond Hart could be a clone in Dune: Prophecy
However, it is possible that Desmond’s survival was unrelated to the Fremen’s belief in Shai-Hulud. Rather than a religious explanation for Desmond’s survival, Dune: Prophecy it can instead provide a more technological one. For example, Desmond could be a ghola in Dune: Prophecy. Node Dune universe, gholas are artificial humans created from someone who died. Therefore, the Desmond viewers are watching Dune: Prophecy may essentially be a clone of the real man.
Gholas can be created with just one cell from the original person. Furthermore, in Dune According to tradition, the gholas were created almost exclusively by the Bene Tleilax, a secret group of genetically altered humans. However, the Bene Gesserit also created at least one ghola of their own. Dune: Prophecy may be looking to explore the creation of gholas, which will lead to the answer to how Desmond Hart survived the sandworm.
