Since Original sin shows Dexter being taken to the hospital in a police car, it is implied that Angela Bishop, Dexter's ex-girlfriend and chief of police in Iron Lake, rushed him there. Why Dexter: Original Sin and Resurrection Undoed New Blood's Deadly Ending
Dexter remains too popular to be killed off forever with a divisive ending (twice)
Similar to Dexter: New Blood essentially going back to the end of the original show by having Dexter kill again, Original sin sets up the franchise's new sequel by undoing Dexter's death in New blood. Every time Dexter gets what appears to be a conclusive ending, Showtime returns with some bizarre twist to reverse it. Ultimately, the Dexter: Original Sin prequel and the next Dexter: Resurrection sequel is undoing Dexter's death because of how divisive New bloodwas the ending and how popular the franchise continues to be so many years later.
Dexter arguably got himself into a corner in 2006 by naming the series after the titular character; is a an almost impossible task to continue the franchise without Dexter Morgan himself at the helm. Plus, it's almost equally difficult to do this without Michael C. Hall being involved on-screen or through voice acting. Unless he becomes Harrison's Dark Passenger, à la Harry Morgan to Dexter himself, then you can't continue if Dexter Morgan is dead. However, considering how divisive the character has become in New bloodit would be a great risk to transport a Dexter spinoff behind Harrison's back.
Dexter: Resurrection is set to premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime in summer 2025.
Dexter being killed by Harrison in New blood faced a massive divide between audiences and critics, so in what is now expected after this franchise's controversial endings, Showtime decided to scrap it and give DexterAnother scene is ending.
