NOTICE! Potential spoilers ahead for The Amazing Spider-Man #68
Marvel latest Spider-Man request shockingly suggests that the publisher will replace the character in his new mystical quest with the X-Menas the current “8 Deaths of Spider-Man” story looks like it will end with Spidey’s final death as he attempts to complete the mission assigned to him by Doctor Doom to defeat the Scions of Cytorrak.
Launching in February next year The Amazing Spider-Man #68 continues the “8 Deaths of Spider-Man” story started in issue #61. The story arc sees Spidey receive a new magical suit that allows him to be resurrected a total of eight times. Judging by the solicitations, it looks like the web-slinger’s number could be in the eighth issue of the arc.

Perhaps it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that Spider-Man is dying during the storyline, given the title of the story arc, but the wall-crawler only has a certain number of lives left to accomplish his mission and subjugate the Descendants of Cytorrak. Doctor Doom even gave Spidey a sleek new outfit to carry out his mission, which not only allows the Webslinger to resurrect himself seven more times if he dies, but also allows him to cast magical spells as he faces off against his new mystical opponents.
Fans also have to wonder if more “.DEATHS” issues will be part of the larger story or if there will be other Marvel heroes picking up the baton.
The X-Men arriving to finish the job started by Spider-Man should be an interesting part of the storytoo, especially since it looks like the team will end up fighting each other. Cyclops’ new team of X-Men must have fallen under the spell of one of the Scions, but considering Scott Summers has the Juggernaut in his team’s ranks, perhaps the Scions didn’t need to try too hard. Fans also have to wonder if more “.DEATHS” issues will be part of the larger story or if there will be other Marvel heroes picking up the baton.
Peter Parker will die in the “8 Deaths of Spider-Man,” but for how long?
Being comics, readers might also assume that Spider-Man may not be as permanently dead as he initially seems. The “8 Kills of Spider-Man” plot will likely have more twists and turns before it’s all said and done, especially considering how central Doctor Doom will be to the Marvel Universe with next year’s mega-crossover. A world under destruction. Confusing release patterns and ridiculous titles aside, it will still be exciting to see how Marvel “The 8 Killings of Spider-Man” ends, and how long it takes X-Men will be replacing the supposedly deceased Spider-Man.
