High-Potential Season 1 Return Date Revealed, ABC Show Sets New Timeslot

High potential the first season has a return date on ABC, although the popular show is getting a new time slot. Since its premiere in September, the crime drama it was a great success. Deadline confirms that Olson’s hit adaptation is in motion, noting that High potential season 1 will return from its hiatus on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 9 pm ET. This is a new time slot for the show which until now has aired at 10pm ET. The new timeframe pairs High potential with another police drama, Will Trent season 3, which airs at 9 p.m. ET. The newbie Season 7, meanwhile, ends tonight at 10pm ET. All three series will remain available to stream on Hulu, with new episodes dropping the next day.

The premise of High potential sees three-time Emmy nominee Olson play Morgan Gillory. After helping the police solve a difficult case and pinpointing the right subject, thanks to the help of her intellectual abilities, Morgan is invited to work as a consultant for the experienced detective Karadec (Daniel Sunjata). With a main cast that includes Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb and Judy Reyes, the adaptation averages more than 10 million viewers per episode on all platforms.

Receiving strong reviews, High potential goes well with Will Trent season 3, which is another detective about a person who has a unique ability to solve crimes but questionable social skills. Additionally, it has long been speculated that ABC would want to combine the two shows. Now that it has revealed its new schedule, the change makes sense.

Veronica Marte and Party down creator Rob Thomas was initially the showrunner, before stepping aside, with The residentTodd Hartan is taking over. Likely due to a combination of the TV veterans behind the camera and Olson’s ease in the lead role, High potential Season 2 is almost guaranteed. Furthermore, it will perform well in a new time frame.
