In 2021, it was confirmed that Cavill has joined the reboot of the fantasy, action and adventure franchise Highlander. In 1986, Highlander was released, directed by Russell Mulcahy. Highlander is the story of Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert), born in Glenfinnan in the 16th century and one of several immortals empowered by the Quickening.
After much speculation, in 2023 Cavill has been confirmed to play MacLeod in the Highlander restartand the film will be directed by Chad Stahelski. Next is the sci-fi action movie Voltrona live-action adaptation of the animated TV series of the same name. The project has gone through many trials and obstacles since 2005 and has been in active development since 2022. In 2024, Cavill was announced as part of the cast of Voltron, albeit in an undisclosed role, alongside Sterling K. Brown, Rita Ora and Alba Baptista.
