Warning: This article contains spoilers for Hellbound Season 2Hell The first season resolved one of its biggest mysteries in the third episode, but the reveal was so subtle that it could easily have gone unnoticed. Netflix’s original horror K-drama returned for a second season with even more mysteries to add to the puzzle. The series, which was adapted from Yeon Sang-ho’s webtoon, received critical acclaim and became one of Netflix’s best horror K-dramas. When Hell The first season has concluded, leaving plenty of room for speculation when it comes to the series’ supernatural creatures.
In Trapped in hell, Individuals receive a decree from an angel that informs them of the date and time of their death. The series sprinkles clues about supernatural beings throughout its episodes without explaining what they really are, their purpose or where they come from. When the show was renewed for a second season, there was an expectation that some of the biggest mysteries from the first season would be resolved. Instead of, Hell season two left more questions unanswered. But as for why monsters attack people, the answer wasn’t necessary in Season 2 as it had already been provided.
Detective Jin Kyung-hun discovered that Jin-su was lying about why monsters were attacking people
The new doctrine of truth was a lie
In Hell In the first season, the world turned upside down when three huge monsters started attacking people and taking them to Hell. After a person received a prophecy, he was incinerated by creatures that came from Hell on the appointed day of judgment. Since no one knew why this was happening, they adopted the society’s doctrine of Jin-su’s New Truth which dictated that only sinners were being attacked by monsters. He preached that people needed to repent if they didn’t want to go to Hell.
While the rest of the world believed Jin-su about why demons were dragging people to Hell, Detective Jin Kyung-hun knew he was lying. Jin-su had indoctrinated Kyung-hun’s daughter Hee-jung into his cult, so he was motivated to prove that there was something wrong with what Jin-su was telling people. Kyung-hun discovered that when the angels gave the decree, they didn’t mention that the people who were being condemned to Hell because they were sinners.
They simply told the characters their fate, without revealing the reason why they were chosen. Kyung-hun’s deduction proved that the demons’ attacks were random. Kyung-hun confronted Jin-su with his theory about the monsters’ attacks. Jin-su, to his credit, did not dispute what Kyung-hun had discovered. He admitted that he actually had no idea why some people were destined for Hell and others were not. He elaborated the doctrine of the New Truth so that he could understand why the angels decided that he would be subjected to demonstration.
Hellbound Hasn’t Revealed Why the Angels Are Really Dooming People Yet
The purpose of angels is still a mystery
When Hell The first season ended, there were still many unanswered questions about the supernatural beings featured in the series. Although the origins of demons were revealed in Hell 2nd season, The reason why angels were condemning people to Hell is still a mystery. Angels were seen as messengers from God sent to help cleanse the world of sinners. However, this theory has not yet been proven. Since the end of Hell season 2 revealed that demons were taking people to Hell to signal the end of the world, the same could be true for angels.
After all, for a character to be taken to Hell, they first need to receive the decree. Therefore, it is entirely plausible that the angels are helping the monsters in their mission to annihilate the human race. The resurrections that took place in Hell show it It is possible that angels were once human, seeing that Jin-su turned into an executioner when he was brought back to life. It is not yet clear whether Hell will be renewed for a third season. So there is a chance that the true purpose of angels remains unclear
Baby Toughie’s “Survival” Proved New Truth Lied About Demonic Attacks
The New Truth Wanted to Control What People Believed About Executioners
Most of the characters in Hell who received the decree were adults, except Toughie, who was condemned to Hell when she was just a few days old. When the New Truth discovered that a baby had been visited by an angel, they tried to keep it a secret because it would cast doubt on their doctrine. The fact that a baby who had no concept of sin received the decree showed that the doctrine of the New Truth was invented. While the belief that only sinners went to Hell worked for adults, it didn’t apply to Toughie because she didn’t live long enough to sin.
When the day of her manifestation came, Toughie’s parents sacrificed themselves and she survived, further proving that the New Truth had lied about the demons’ attacks. However, Hell the second season revealed that In fact, Toughie did not survive his demonstration. The demons killed her, but she was immediately resurrected. Toughie’s resurrection in Hell shows that no one can survive after being condemned to Hell.
The mystery behind the enforcers’ attacks makes Hellbound better
The executioners were once human
Hell the first season ended on a cliffhanger and didn’t reveal why the enforcers were taking people to Hell, thus setting the show up for a second season. Although it was frustrating Hell season 1 didn’t explain the origins of the enforcers, it ended up improving the show. If all the mysteries were solved in the first season of the series, then Hell season two would have much lower stakes. What it does Hell such a good show is because the audience knows as little about the supernatural beings in the series as the characters do.
Although Hell season 2 showed that the resurrected could be transformed into monsters, has not yet revealed why Jin-su became an enforcer and Jeong-ja did not. It’s possible that the reason he turned into an executioner is because Jin-su didn’t really change after being resurrected. He basically came back with the same beliefs. Jeong-ja, on the other hand, became a better person after being in Hell. So maybe the executioners were actually sent by God to teach humans to be better.
A supernatural cosmic horror like Hell It is not intended to answer every question the public may have. Instead, the point of Hell is to show how humans react to unknown events. The New Truth was able to convince people that only sinners were receiving the decree because they did not understand the supernatural events that were happening. So religion became the right answer. If people would look more closely at the doctrine of the New Truth, they would have been able to discover that it had some holes.
