He-Man & TMNT Villains Get Dark Remakes As Iconic Franchises Combine Their Lore

Warning: Contains spoilers for Masters of the Universe / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles of Grayskull #1! There are few franchises more rooted in pure aesthetics than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles And He-Man and the Masters of the UniverseIncluding and especially the main villains of both franchises, like Skeletor, Shredder, Krang and more. Their unique designs have become some of the most recognizable in history, and now they’re getting dark redesigns in an all-new crossover comic, like the iconic one. he-man And TMNT Franchises join their lore.

in Masters of the Universe / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Grayskull Turtles #1 by Tim Seeley and Freddie E. Williams II, The Ninja Turtles travel to Eternia after discovering an evil plot. Shredder and Krang communicated with Skeletor, sending him Mutant Oz in exchange for access to black magic. When the Turtles interrupt their interdimensional communication channel, the TMNT Heroes and villains are sucked through a portal to Eternia.

As soon as they get there, the turtles meet Duncan, the man-in-arms, and join forces with the Eternian royal family. Meanwhile, Krang and Shredder move into Snake Mountain, where they do more than just partner with Skeletor, but use a combination of Mutagens and black magic to become even more powerful than they were before – which came with an Awesome redesign for everyone.

He-Man and the Lord of the Universe And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Join their villains in truly epic fashion. Shredder gets a new one he-man-esque costume with bulkier muscles and added razors to his already deadly armor. Krang shows off his redesign in the form of his android exosuit, which ditches his former humanoid appearance for a look more akin to a dark fantasy troll. Conversely, Skeletor’s redesign takes aspects of these TMNT universe, with all-new armor reminiscent of a samurai.

The main franchise villains aren’t the only ones with awesome remakes, with two of the biggest standouts (one from each universe) being Slash and Trap Jaw. Slash underwent a secondary mutation after the Mutagen UZ was infused with black magic. After his exposure to this new magical ooze, Slash turned blue, his shell turned purple, and he got he-man-like armor (similar to shredder). Trap Zhao took a different approach to his redesign, as instead of mutating, he fashioned new robotic armor from TMNTs mousers, making his iconic ‘trap jaw’ even deadlier.

Back in the 80s, he-man And TMNT Yiddish were the coolest action figures one could have, and if the crossover designs existed back then, it’s safe to say that stores wouldn’t be able to keep them on the shelves. Not only that, but keeping the characters ‘Toetic’ has been a key factor in both franchises. In fact, the main reason he-man And TMNT Animated series were even green-lit to sell toys (really, he-man was actually created by the toy company, Mattel). Therefore, the recent remakes honor the legacy of both franchises by blending them together in fun, interesting and ‘Toyetic’ ways.

While He-Man / TMNT Crossover ’80s-style action figures would be awesome to get your hands on, but just seeing the designs on the pages of a comic is cool enough as it is. And the best part? The mini-series has just started, allowing fans plenty of time to spend with Skeletor, Shredder, Krang and more with their awesome redesigns in this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles And He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Crossover.
