I never met George Lucas. I never spoke to him. Of course, I went to USC, where he supported that school. So I got that call randomly this week. He was still in the mall where he had just seen [Wicked]. And he called me, and we FaceTimed, and he couldn't have been nicer. He's like, “You know, I make movies.” And I said, “Yes.” And he said, “I see all the elements of this film. I know how difficult it is to put it all together.” It's so great when you see leaders like that, creative leaders, who really reach out and are so kind and say we're doing this together.

He recognizes that Evil is a film that managed to overcome despite these challenges and despite being stuck in development for many years. Lucas knows when a film achieves something truly special and makes a genuine impact, and there's no denying that Evil has already achieved these feats.
Of “all elements” that Lucas recognizes and appreciates in the 2024 film, one of them is probably the intricate sets that bring Evilversion of Oz for life.
