During a panel at SPACECON San Antonio, Hayden Christensen and Rosario Dawson spoke about Anakin Skywalker Star Wars return to Ahsoka show, including what it was like for Christensen to get the call asking him back. Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker are two of the best Star Wars characters, and Christensen and Dawson are two of the most beloved actors in Star Wars movies and TV shows. Until the Ahsoka show, however, Christensen and Dawson had not yet played these characters in live-action together.
In a video posted by Priscila writes on TikTok, Hayden Christensen and Rosario Dawson opened up about their experience working together on Ahsokaand Christensen specifically explained how he felt upon returning. After saying it was “another amazing phone call to receive,” Christensen elaborated:
“Life is full of wonders, and sometimes you have to look for them, and other times it just slaps you in the face, and this was another one of those moments where I thought, ‘Wow, I can do this with my friend and play these characters together,’ and it was really special.”
It’s clear that Dawson and Christensen were delighted with Anakin’s work Star Wars return and with the time they spent together on screen, which was certainly a feeling shared by many viewers.
What Hayden Christensen’s return meant for Star Wars
Seeing Clone Wars-era Anakin Skywalker in live action was brilliant
Hayden Christensen had already returned to Star Wars screen on Obi Wan Kenobi show, which was also an exciting update for both the actor and the character, but there was something truly special about Christensen’s work Ahsoka special appearances. Not only were Anakin and Ahsoka finally able to confront their very complex past in the World Between Worlds, but Anakin was also revealed to be a Force ghost watching over Ahsoka on Peridea. Perhaps even more than the confrontation in the World Between Worlds, this moment felt like true closure.
When Anakin fell to the dark side and became Darth Vader, there were a number of important relationships that were permanently damaged and were genuinely painful to watch fall apart, among them Anakin’s relationships with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padmé, and even R2-D2. The Clone Wars revealed that there was yet another relationship that was destroyed because of Anakin’s fall: his bond with his former Padawan, Ahsoka. Knowing that Anakin is a Force ghost and is close to Ahsoka was a comfort, and just as exciting, it could mean that Anakin will appear in Ahsoka season 2.
Our Take on Anakin Skywalker’s Unexpected Return
This was the perfect comeback for Hayden Christensen
As Christensen mentioned at the panel, Anakin’s return in Ahsoka the show gave him (and viewers) a little bit of everything. Not only was Christensen finally shown as Clone Wars-era Anakin in live action, but he also played Darth Vader in and out of Vader’s iconic costume. Seeing Christensen return to the role and play both sides of the Force was truly rewardingespecially as a huge fan of the prequel trilogy.
It’s also just wonderful to see how much Christensen still loves the character, the franchise, and any opportunity to return to the role. There are so many actors who clearly have a genuine love for Star Wars and for the characters they played, and it’s always heartwarming to hear them express affection for the franchise – something Christensen, along with others Star Wars actors like Ahmed Best and Ewan McGregor continue to do so. I completely agree with Hayden Christensen that Anakin Skywalker return to Ahsoka show was wonderful.
