Guy Gansert is the real villain of Bachelorette Gold (his true colors came out when we discovered the restraining order)

Leader of The golden bachelorette, Guy Gansert has raised concerns regarding his romantic history. Throughout the season, Guy presented himself as a kind, gentle, and fun-loving personality. However, as more warning signs come to light, some question her near-perfect appearance.

Guy stole protagonist Joan Vassos’ attention for most of The golden bachelorette season 1. Although she appears to have a strong connection with fellow contestant Chock Chapple, Guy remains a strong opponent for the Maryland native. It is important to note that Chock had the first one-on-one date with Joan, but Guy got the first meeting in his hometown with the private school administrator. When the pair teamed up in Nevada, there were instant sparks. It seemed like Guy and Joan might be the perfect match. Unfortunately, there are several signs that Guy isn’t as charming as he seems.

Guy has been very transparent with Joan and fans regarding his divorce from his ex-wife, Heidi Seevers O’Gara. Although he has been open about the difficulty of the separation and loss of the partnership, the Nevada native chose not to release an important public record: Heidi’s restraining order. According to his ex-wife, the case was raised during a volatile period in Guy’s life (via The Sun).

She claimed that Guy had placed something behind the driver’s side tire. When confronted, Guy pointed two fingers at her, gesturing as if he were firing a gun. These events, allies “piles of text messages”, left her scared for her safety. Heidi seemed to believe his sleeping medication caused him to become “extremely unstable”. Notably, Heidi voluntarily withdrew her request three weeks after requesting it. The pair appear to have reconciled as they continue to speak to each other. However, this legal document shows that Guy may be the real villain in The golden bachelorette.

With Guy’s indiscretions now public, his overly positive portrayal on the show seems naive. Often when someone seems too good to be true, they are. Although he presented himself as a sweet and hopeless romantic, he threatened loved ones with violence. Guy has undoubtedly grown up since the legal case, but his troubling past makes him seem like a secret villain. Clearly, the doctor can be explosive.

According to CAWCalmost half of reports of domestic violence go unreported. For Heidi to seek legal help, she must have been incredibly distressed. While no one but them knows the full extent of their clashes, restraining orders should not be trivialized. Clearly, Guy isn’t the model boyfriend he appears to be.

The guy’s involvement could be bad for the franchise

After Gerry Turner’s intense backlash The Golden Bachelor, the last thing the show needs is another controversy. It was revealed that Gerry lied about his romantic past, claiming he remained single for over 40 years after losing his last wife. When fans were informed that the protagonist was involved with a woman, a month after the death of his wife and 14 years his junior, they were furious. Many looked at THE Bachelor allowance for explanations, as the verification process is reportedly time-consuming.

Guy’s hidden past could draw more criticism for the show. If the recycling order had been lifted at some point, at least to quell the rumors, Guy’s image would have seemed more genuine. The fact that the legal order was hidden until the end of the season doesn’t reflect well on the show.

The golden bachelorette‘s Guy remained a respected contender on Joan’s season, despite seeming like a villain off-screen. As the show comes to an end, last-minute confessions completely change his image. His involvement in the show could have been detrimental to Guy as well as the show. Hopefully Guy has changed, as Joan deserves to be with an honest, good-natured man, not a villain.
