Glen Powell talked about playing Batmanand I need him to join James Gunn’s DC Universe as Bruce Wayne for a few reasons, one of them being the perfect full-circle moment with The Dark Knight Rises. There will be two live-action versions of Batman going forward. Robert Pattinson Batman Franchise will remain its own thing while James Gunn has a new actor to play Bruce Wayne in the DCU. The new Dark Knight will debut in Batman’s The brave and the bold film, which will also feature the live-action debut of Damian Wayne.
There have been no official updates on possible candidates to play the DCU’s Batman. However, several names emerged among fans as favorites for the role. This includes stars like The boys‘Jensen Ackles, ReachAlan Ritchson, Jake Gyllenhaal and Glen Powell. The latter is the outlier due to some factors. The biggest one is that Powell has appeared in a live-action Batman film before, and I believe the actor has the skills to do it again, only this time, Powell would return as Batman in the DCU’s. The brave and the bold.
Glen Powell was once in a Batman movie
The actor worked with Christopher Nolan
Powell has become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after stars after charming roles in Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone but you. However, the actor spent many years without reaching the top of the film industry. That’s the disappointing reality that so many young actors face, but interestingly enough, it was a Batman movie that showed Powell that he had what it takes to hang in there and eventually find success in Hollywood. Recently, Glen Powell spoke about his experience in The Dark Knight Riseswhere the actor appeared alongside Tom Hardy’s Bane in a short scene.
Powell played a stockbroker who had his head slammed into a table by Bane. Despite only having a small role in the Batman film, Powell is grateful to have been a part of it. The actor revealed that he had to go through several auditions to get the role, and being cast in a big film directed by Christopher Nolan helped him see that he had potential. I think Powell ended up having one of the most memorable moments in the film, and the actor revealed that Christopher Nolan is glad he cast him early, which is a huge compliment.
Glen Powell wants to play Batman and make him different from Robert Pattinson
The actor made his intentions clear for the superhero film
I’d love to see a full-circle moment for Powell, with the actor going from stockbroker to The Dark Knight Rises to play Batman in the DCU The brave and the bold. It seems like this is not only something that I and other DC fans want, but Powell himself would also be open to it if the opportunity arose. Talking to GQ UK In May, Powell addressed the possibility of playing a superhero in the future. When asked which character the actor saw himself as, Powell revealed that he always liked Batman.

Interestingly, Powell also revealed that he “would have a wild take on Batman,” which would be different from the more grounded tone of Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne in director Matt Reeves’ film. Batman. Powell said his version of Batman would be more like Michael Keaton’s. While I’m a fan of Pattinson’s Dark Knight, I have to say I’m excited at the prospect of getting a completely different take on the character if Powell gets his wish. A more fantastical version of the hero would better fit into James Gunn’s DCU plans and differentiate him from Batman.
I think Glen Powell would be the perfect choice for Batman in the DCU
DC’s New Dark Knight Has an Exciting Setup
At 36, Glen Powell may be the perfect age to play Batman in the DCU. DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran have a 10-year plan for the DC Universe, which could go beyond that. As such, DC will need to cast an actor who can lead a decade or more of films as Batman. Powell could easily do this. I also like that the actor is closer in age to the DCU’s Superman – who is 31, like actor David Corenswet – while Bruce Wayne would end up being a little older.
I think Powell’s age is perfect because it’s realistic for the story the DCU wants to tell with its Batman, and it would also allow the actor to be close in age to Corenswet’s Superman and other younger heroes in the franchise. The brave and the bold’The story revolves around the debut of Damian Wayne, biological son of Bruce Wayne. At 36 years old, Powell would be realistic as a Batman who has a son in the 7-12 age range who would fit Damian. In addition to the fourth male Robin, James Gunn revealed that more Batman characters will also appear.
While I can see age being a factor in Powell’s possible casting as Batman, I think the actor brings a lot more to the table. Not only does Powell have the classic Bruce Wayne look, but the actor showed he would excel at playing the billionaire playboy side of the character in films like Top Gun: Maverick and Assassin. The latter showcased Powell’s acting range, as the actor played several different versions of the same character, which I think would serve him well. Powell making the hero’s Bruce Wayne and Batman personas look very different.
I’d love to see Glen Powell join the DCU, even if it’s not as Batman
Powell would be perfect for some DC heroes
I think Powell would be a fantastic choice for the DCU’s Batman, but if that doesn’t happen, I want to see the actor still land a major DC role at the end of the day to complete his career change after The Dark Knight Rises. Powell has the charisma to play some characters that could become DCU fan favoriteswith one of them already being announced to have a solo project. Powell is my favorite choice to lead HBO Gold Boost series, and the actor sees potential in the character, telling Entertainment tonight that “Booster Gold is funny.”
Another big DC hero I could see Powell playing is Green Arrow. While Stephen Amell’s version of Oliver Queen is beloved, he played the character more like Batman than a comic book-accurate Oliver Queen. After that and the DCEU chose not to use the character, Green Arrow’s live-action return could be with a classic version of the character this makes him just as charming and funny as he is in the comics. Powell would be perfect for this version of Oliver Queen. That being said, I still have hope that Glen Powell will be DC’s new Batman.
