Gift-giving event guide

As the holiday season arrives, it's time to Disney Dreamlight Valleyof the annual Gift of Giving event. As in previous years, there are some elements that return, but there are also many new things to discover. Gift of Giving officially starts on December 18, 2024 and runs until December 31, 2024, which means you have plenty of time to participate.

Since the Gift of Giving event is part of the Sew Delightful update, which brought Sally to Disney Dreamlight ValleyYou won't need to update the game, just wait until the start date and things will start appearing automatically. To find out if the event is working in your game, you should find a letter from the developers in your inbox informing you of the start of the event.

How to participate in the Gift of Giving event

Collect festive wrapping paper and gifts for your favorite villagers

After loading Disney Dreamlight Valley after the event start date, you should start to see Festive wrapping paper appears near Scrooge's shop. Only a maximum of four festive wrapping papers will appear at a time, so be sure to collect them; otherwise, more will never appear.

Once you have a decent stash of festive wrapping paper or some leftovers from past holidays, you can start creating. With festive wrapping paper there are four different gifts you can createincluding the delicious, handmade, mischievous and brilliant gift. While you don't need all of them to complete the event task, you will need at least 10 of any combination, and each requires different crafting materials to make them. You can find them in the Functional Items tab.

Please note that even if you do not complete them now or have not previously completed them in 2023 or 2022, you can always find the holiday tasks in the Village section and complete them if you have the event materials. If you participated in previous years, you may need to scroll down a bit in your assignments to find them.

Plus, if you've already completed them, you can simply enjoy the festive wrapping paper however you see fit. The various vacation tasks to be completed include,

In addition to hunting for festive wrapping paper and creating gifts for Disney Dreamlight Valley Villagers, you'll also need to check out several fishing spots in the main valley to find some feast fish. Those exclusive versions of the game's regular fish make a minimal appearance during the Gift of Giving event, so be sure to catch them before January 1st.

Each fish can only be caught once during the event and each one comes with a tiny Santa hat. Don't worry about having to hunt them down either, as each of them will only appear in festive fishing spots with red and green bubblesthen you will know if any have appeared. These fish can be used normally by cooking with them in recipes, but as they are for a limited time Disney Dreamlight Valley event item, many players choose to store them safely where they won't accidentally use them.

Although they don't have any other exclusive purpose, if you want to save them and avoid accidentally using them, there are a few ways. If you have unlocked the Dreamlight Castle secret room, many players have chosen to store them in a chest to access them easily and avoid accidentally using them when auto-filling recipes. Alternatively, you can place them as a decorative item in your home; just make sure you don't accidentally pick them up without realizing it.

Take part in a festive riddle

While many of the festivities are the same as previous years, one new task includes building a one-of-a-kind snowman. To start this special event task, you will first need to track down two different items in your voucher. First, you will need explore the square and find a red treasure chest. The chest you are looking for looks like the ones you usually find in the valley that provide 50 moonstones in Disney Dreamlight Valleybut you'll know it's the right one based on the color.

After interacting with it, a memory will appear. Investigate the memory to receive a crafting recipe sheet. Unfortunately, the spreadsheet won't tell you exactly what you're creating or where to do it, and all quantities are in Roman numerals. While the crafting bench may seem like an obvious option here, that's not where you'll be using the ingredients you're looking for. Instead of, you will need to go to Frosted Heights and look for a large, strangely placed snowball.

Once you find it, you can interact with it. When you do this, you may notice that there are slots for items. The items required here are those listed in the memory you found and will need to be applied in the specified order. So the first interaction will be with snowballs, the second will be with fabric, dandelions and hardwood, and finally the third interaction will be with more fabric, green passion lilies and a carrot.

Once you do this, you will have created the Mad Hatter's snowman. Unfortunately, it is purely decorative and unique, so you can collect it and place it wherever you want or put it in your inventory. As for the rest of the event rewards, be sure to check out the Christmas tree in Disney Dreamlight Valley castle, where you can find gifts waiting for you, from December 25th to 31st.
