All three of these titles have plenty of action, however Snake Eyes is more street-level than its grander, more international predecessors. This means that the prequel features some impressive action sequences and martial arts choreography. What’s more, as a prequel for just one character, Snake Eyes is arguably more character-focused than the other two GI Joe movies, both of which have wider casts. The more focused narrative allows actors like Golding, Andrew Koji, Takehiro Hira and Iku Uwais to shine.

Although Snake Eyes may have achieved success on Netflix, it seems likely that whatever comes next for the franchise will include wiping the slate clean, meaning Golding could not reprise his role. It is unclear as future GI Joe Projects will be compared to the prequel, but hopefully, the disappointing box office performance of the film does not deter executives from trying to use the Snake Eyes Character.
