GI Joe is pushing boundaries in the Energon Universe, as the preview for Scarlett #5 Show an incredible gory kill in its opening pages. Skybound’s shared universe continues to push the limit with each new series, and the concluding issue of Scarlett Looks to be the most violent issue yet as it races to its exciting climax.

The preview from Skybound Entertainment for Scarlett #5 – Written by Kelly Thompson, with art by Marco Ferrari – Picks up right after the previous issue’s revelation that the mysterious Arashikage weapon Scarlett is looking for is actually the Inochi Kane-ken, or “Sword of Life.”

Storm Shadow takes possession of the weapon, and shows off the sword’s power when dueling against a Mugenonami enemy. In a classic summery film-style showdown, Storm damage cuts his enemy so clean that it looks like nothing happened at first, until the Mugenanami enemy suddenly splits in half.

With one issue to go before the launch of the new GI Joe series, Scarlett #5 has a lot to do to wrap up the storyline. Scarlett still has to figure out where Jinx’s true loyalties lie, and the question of which side all the characters land on before the launch of GI Joe #1 in November. All bets are off on which side Scarlett, Storm Shadow, Jinx and many others will find themselves. Whoever ends up controlling the Inochi Kane-ken in the Energon Universe will have a major impact on the future of GI Joe.
