Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Ghosts, season 4, episode 3, “Halloween IV: The Witch”
Although Ghosts Season 4’s Halloween episode didn’t reveal Hetty’s powers, the outing proved that that reveal needs to come soon. Ghosts Season 4’s cast of characters possess some pretty impressive supernatural powers, as well as some less exciting ones. Alberta’s ability to be heard humming by humans may not get much credit, but it is one of the few powers that can facilitate communication with humans. Likewise, Trevor’s ability to move objects, no matter how small, has often allowed him to send text messages in times of crisis.
That being said, Ghosts Season 4’s new character, Patience, pretty much exploded all of these powers. Mary Holland’s pious Puritan was outraged by the suggestion that Sam’s father would sleep in the same bed as his girlfriend and expressed her anger by making the walls of Woodstone Manor bleed human blood. Even Pete’s ability to escape the confines of the mansion paled in comparison. However, Season 4 Episode 3, “Halloween IV: The Witch,” ended with Patience returning to her original underground home, and this sets up the long-awaited reveal of another character’s power.
Ghosts Season 4’s Halloween episodes poked fun at Hetty’s lack of powers
Hetty hoped her powers would manifest in time to save Sam
Now that other characters have mocked her for her lack of noticeable powers and she has complained about it herself, Hetty’s ghost powers are expected to be revealed later Ghosts season 4. When Patience apparently turned Sam into a stone statue since the ghosts declared her guilty of witchcraft, Hetty wondered aloud if this would be the moment her previously unseen powers would arrive. She and the other ghost waited hoping for a miracle and nothing happened. It was an awkward moment for a character as image-conscious as Hetty, and almost guaranteed that viewers will discover her powers soon.
At first, Patience’s arrival seemed to hamper Hetty’s character development. Patience Ghosts The Season 4 role ousted Nigel, Isaac’s former love interest, and Holland’s character’s fierce powers seemingly meant she was here to stay. However, in “Halloween IV: The Witch”, all Isaac had to do was trick Patience into watching television to make her flee the mansion, as she saw it as a corrupting influence. This means that Ghosts Season 4 once again has plenty of screen time for Hetty, and since the sitcom has already mentioned her powers, the reveal would be ideally timed.
Patience’s Ghosts Season 4 Exit Makes Hetty’s Powers a Priority
Mary Holland’s character was central to the first episodes of season 4
Patience was key in the beginning Ghosts 4th season, but Hetty may be in the spotlight longer now that the Puritan has returned to “The dirt.” Patience’s presence reshaped the season’s early outings, indirectly forcing Sam to confront his troubled relationship with his father, as well as kickstarting Isaac’s life. Ghosts season 4 redemption arc. “Halloween IV: The Witch” arguably even saw Patience later in this arc, when Isaac saved Patience’s mansion by seducing her with the allure of trashy television. Instead of openly betraying Patience, Isaac simply showed her that the mansion was not the place for her.
Hetty became more sympathetic when viewers learned the circumstances of her death.
That means there’s no better time for Hetty to step into the spotlight. For a long time, the aristocratic lady of the mansion was used as a prominent supporting character, but never as the star of the show. Viewers already know, thanks to TV linethat Sass will receive a long-awaited backstory in Season 4. This delayed change is welcome, and the reveal of Hetty’s ghost powers would complement this perfectly. Hetty has already become more sympathetic as viewers learn the circumstances of her death, and her powers could give her more agency than ever before.
Ghosts season 4 should reveal Hetty’s powers
The supporting star deserves more focus in the story
Ghosts Season 4 should reveal Hetty’s powers, as there’s no easier way to give a character more focus in the series’ story. Since Pete realized he could leave the confines of the mansion, his role in the series has expanded to see him regularly join Jay on major and minor tasks. Even Alberta’s comparatively minor skill came in handy, and Trevor’s aforementioned powers saved Sam and Jay more times than they could count. Hetty could become a central character rather than an underutilized supporting star in Ghosts season 4but she would need her powers.

Although Ghosts Alexander Hamilton’s upcoming appearance in season 4 proves that Isaac will still be central to the series’ story going forward, that doesn’t mean Hetty can’t be equally important in future outings. Ghosts has already managed the considerable task of balancing the show’s large cast with Sam and Jay’s antics in the world of the living. As such, Ghosts Season 4 should be able to prioritize Hetty’s powers going forward.
