Georgie and Mandy’s first wedding update is more bad news for Sheldon, hopes of comeback after Thanksgiving disappointment

Georgie and Mandy’s first wedding the latest holiday update brings more disappointing news following Sheldon Cooper’s non-appearance in the Thanksgiving episode. The freshman comedy is the first spinoff of The Big Bang Theory to not introduce Sheldon. It focuses on Georgie’s attempt to start her life with Mandy and her daughter after the death of Georgie’s father in Young Sheldon end. Most of the comedy comes from Georgie and Mandy’s attempts to navigate adulthood, as well as their relationship with Mandy’s parents.

Although they are not main characters in the new series, several Young Sheldon characters have already returned to Georgie and Mandy‘s First marriage. However, Sheldon has yet to appear even though he has been mentioned several times. Sheldon is at school in California while the rest of the Coopers are still in Texas, so it makes sense that he wouldn’t be a regular part of this spinoff series. However, holidays are an exception, as he could have returned for a visit while CalTech was closed.

Georgie and Mandy’s First Wedding Won’t Air a Christmas Episode

Co-creator Steve Holland recently confirmed (via TV line) that there will be no Christmas episode because it’s too close to Thanksgiving. That’s why, there will be no opportunity for Sheldon to return at Christmas unless he does so off-screen and the family talks about it later. However, this would be even more disappointing than an episode he didn’t appear in, as it would reference Sheldon without giving the audience the opportunity to participate in his return.

This update means that the biggest opportunity to bring Sheldon back has passed without him returning. While this fits the narrative that Sheldon rarely came home after leaving for CalTech, it’s disappointing that he doesn’t appear during any of the major holidays. These are the only times when it would be feasible for him to visit you, so it is unlikely that he will appear during the first season of Georgie and Mandy’s first wedding now that vacation is not an option.

How long can Georgie and Mandy avoid bringing Sheldon back?

The series does not revolve around Sheldon, but should include him when possible

Georgie and Mandy’s first wedding is trying to establish itself. As the first show of Big Bang Theory franchise does not feature Sheldon, it needs to be able to succeed without him and therefore bringing him back too soon could be bad for the show. However, given that the rest of the Coopers have already appeared several times, it’s reasonable to expect Sheldon to return at some point.

It would be easier to bring Sheldon back than Georgie and Mandy’s first wedding to create a return for George Sr., as Sheldon is alive and well in California. Plus, Sheldon interacting with Mandy’s equally awkward brother Connor would be comedy gold. So, hopefully George and Mandy’s first marriage finds a way to bring Sheldon home for a visit without sacrificing the spinoff’s independence from its predecessor or allowing the boy genius’ presence to overshadow the title characters’ story.
