Genshin Impact Character Leaks Show Skirk Can Save the Meta (But Don't Believe Them Just Yet)

New character leaks about Skirk in Genshin Impact emerged and, Based on the new information about the elusive character, it could help save the game's metastructure while also giving a much-needed benefit to a specific element – but players should be careful not to believe the leaks too soon, as there is still a lot to consider. Skirk was first introduced as an NPC during the Archon's final quests set in Fontaine, having rescued Tartaglia from the Abyss and helped fend off the Devouring Narwhal in Genshin Impact. Having played his role, Skirk disappeared once more.

The character has been absent from the game for over a year, but could return soon. This is because with version 5.3 live streaming, Developer HoYoverse has teased some of the content that will be added in the coming months following the patch that brings Natlan Archon's final missions. Several previously leaked characters have been confirmed for Genshin Impactas Dahlia and the prisoner, and among the cast of seven silhouettes, it is possible to see what appears to be Skirk, memorable for the headdress and the shattered glass around him.

Skirk may have cryogenic powers in Genshin Impact

Leaks say it will be released in version 5.7

Genshin Impact' Skirk holds an empty sphere in his hands.

With Skirk all but confirmed as a returning character in future patches, speculated to be a new playable character as well, new rumors surrounding her have emerged. Even though it's still quite early and she has yet to be formally confirmed by HoYoverse, some leaks about her have emerged following her teaser on the version 5.3 live stream. According to information provided by the leaker known as Full Stop Chan, Skirk will use the Cryo power once she is released as a playable character in Genshin Impact 5.7. The leak was shared in a post tagged “Reliable" about Reddit.

It's important to note that the leak doesn't specify that Skirk has Cryo Vision, per se, which means she may not rely on the blessings of the gods to wield her powers - she could have an Illusion like the Fatui or have unlocked elemental powers through another source. The leak doesn't mention his weapon type nor his role in team compositions, but Skirk is known for being a powerful swordswoman, so there's a chance she could wield a sword in combat and operate as Cryo DPS in Genshin Impact team compositions.

The element has been struggling lately

Although the information provided in the leak is minimal, it could have drastic repercussions if true. This is because Cryo, as an element, is at the lowest level. While the element is still quite strong, with powerful reactions like Superconduct and Melt, it is currently paling in comparison to other elements and reactions that have been improved over the past year. The last significant Cryo character release was Wriothesley, and even with the arrival of Citlali as the Cryo character in Genshin Impactits release is much less significant.

This is because Wriothesley's release also meant that the strongest Cryo DPS had just entered the game. As a catalyst user, all of your normal and charged attacks automatically deal Cryo DMG as opposed to Physical DMG. Additionally, the foundation of his kit revolves around the use of normal and charged attacks, meaning Wriothesley's Cryo application is nearly unbeatable. With the right sub-DPS and support units, Wriothesley can constantly freeze and melt opponents, for example, quickly eliminating groups and depleting large HP bars. The big problem with Wriothesley is his absence from repeated banners in Genshin Impact.

The strongest Cryo DPS has not appeared once in repeat banners since version 5.3, making it much more difficult to have a competitive team focused on Cryo DMG. This is significantly aggravated by the fact that Cryo characters, in general, have been deeply ignored by HoYoverse over the past year. Before version 5.3, which will bring back the Chronicled Wish banner and, within it, the possibility of pulling for Shenhe, reruns of the 5-star Cryo character had not occurred for over a year – the last unit was Ayaka in Genshin Impact 4.3.

With the absence of several key Cryo characters from the banners, players looking to build Cryo-based teams have been excluded from that possibility. Wriothesley has not been replayed once since its release, although units released after it have appeared twice in replay banners. Shenhe, who is a big supporter of Cryo, was absent from the banners for almost two full years – even Ganyu and Eula (who is primarily a Physical DPS) haven't appeared in a long time, making concerns about Cryo's value in Genshin Impact increasingly scandalous.

Along with Shenhe's reprise from Chronicled Wish in 5.3, Citlali's arrival will mitigate this somewhat, offering a new Cryo shield that looks like an enhanced version of 4-star Layla. Citlali helps protect the team and triggers Cryo-related reactions on the field thanks to his Cryo application, but a single support unit doesn't do much for the element as a whole – and that's where hope comes in with Skirk. If Skirk is a Cryo damage dealer, even if he is a sub-DPS off the field, his inclusion would mean a lot for the element in question. Genshin Impact.

Dealing damage directly with Cryo, especially for those who failed to get Wriothesley in his only banner run, would once again become a possibility and hopefully within current meta requirements. Even though she isn't considered a Natlan character, Skirk could work well with Mavuika's sub-DPS build or perhaps even Pyro Traveler. If Skirk is a sub-DPS, she could be a great companion to characters like Arlecchino or Clorinde, who coincidentally are the characters featured in repeated banners across Genshin Impact 5.3.

Skirk's Leaked Cryogenic Powers in Genshin Impact 5.7 Look Suspicious

The character's release was not leaked or speculated before its teaser

Skirk from Genshin Impact looks back against a blurred background with the Devouring Narwhal leaving a slit.

As exciting as the leak may seem, it is still a leak and as such should be considered with caution. This is made worse by the fact that it's related to a patch that's four updates away, and even more so because Skirk hadn't even been leaked as a playable character before.. Among the seven silhouettes, several other characters had already been leaked, including Dahlia and the prisoner for more than a year, as well as Ifa and Kimitsuki Ayano. Skirk was not mentioned as a playable character once. Genshin Impact leaks.

There have been no rumors about its possible codename in the game's source code for future patches or anything like that. As soon as she was teased by HoYoverse, however, information about her possible release date and elemental power appeared. The timing of the information seems extremely questionableespecially in the absence of any more Skirk-related leaks beforehand.

Players should exercise caution when considering the leaks and rumors about Skirk being playable in Genshin Impact with Cryo abilities is a great example of this. Even though she was teased by HoYoverse, there's a chance she'll only appear as an NPC during the next few patches - the developer never clearly stated that they would be playable, but that players would encounter them on their adventures, so there's a chance a totality of rumors about Skirk in Genshin Impact they are simply false.
