Genshin Impact 5.3 character banners have been leaked and, Despite the excitement behind some of the new additions, rumors show a worrying absence of the gacha system. Version 5.3 is set to be the next major update to HoYoverse’s popular action RPG and is expected to bring a conclusion to Natlan’s main story arc. On top of that and everything this entails, like a new weekly boss for players to face, there will also be new units to obtain. In total, leaks mention that there will be four new characters in Genshin Impact 5.3, including Mavuika and Pyro Traveler.
Several other elements of the patch were leaked as beta testing began. This includes the new world boss, which is expected to bring Ascension materials to some characters, as well as the events that happen during the update. The annual Lantern Rite Festival is expected to take place in version 5.3, which should give players plenty of content to play. Now, a new leak has highlighted possible character banners. Although the addition of Mavuika in Genshin Impact is exciting, the absence of certain repeat characters presents a worrying vision of the game’s future.
Genshin Impact 5.3 character banners leaked
Two powerful DPS units are recommended for Phase 2 banners
Version 5.3 character banners have reportedly been leaked, showing which units players can expect and when they should appear. The information comes from the leaker known as Full Stop Chan, which was shared in a post tagged “Questionable” about Reddit. According to the leak, Mavuika and Citlali will debut in the next patch’s Phase 1 banners, while Arlecchino and Clorinde will appear again in the Phase 2 banners. Normally, when there are several new characters, HoYoverse spreads them across both Banner Phases, but this doesn’t seem to be the case in Genshin Impact 5.3.
On the other hand, this may have a reasonable explanation. There is a leak stating that all HoYoverse game banners will be changed; when new characters are released, their banners will last for the entire patch, while repeat characters will only be introduced at the start of Phase 2. This leak was also shared on Reddit. Thus, the fact that Mavuika and Citlali are listed together in the first half could be indicative of the fact that they will both be available from the start of version 5.3, while Arlecchino and Clorinde will only be available during the second half of the next Genshin Impact correction.
Wriothesley’s absence from Genshin Impact banners has long been noted
Units released after the Cryo character have already received reruns
The worrying aspect of the leak, however, is the rumors of repeated characters. Arlecchino and Clorinde are fantastic DPS units that lead many powerful team compositions. However, the problem lies in the absence of a Wriothesley reprise, by the way. This has been an issue for some time, and with each update the problem becomes more concerning. Since his debut in version 4.1 (he was available from mid-October until early November 2023), Wriothesley has not appeared in any repeat banners. Wriothesley’s absence from Genshin Impact banners becomes even more explicit in other repetitions.
Neuvillette, which also debuted in Version 4.1, albeit during Phase 1 banners, has already been reprized in Version 4.5 and is confirmed for reprise in Version 5.2. The character Hydro Furina was released after Wriothesley, in version 4.2, and has already been re-displayed in version 4.7. If Arlecchino and Clorinde, who debuted in versions 4.6 and 4.7 respectively, are indeed the next characters reappeared in version 5.3, the lack of a Wriothesley reprise will become even more noticeable.
Of course, Citlali will make her debut in version 5.3 as a Cryo character, but she is expected to fill the role of shieldmaiden and support unit, while Wriothesley is the main DPS in team compositions. Being able to deal consistent and powerful Cryo DMG puts him in the same category as Ganyu, who is an equally strong Cryo DPS. As much as Wriothesley’s absence from the characters’ banners becomes more worrying with each passing year, Genshin Impact update, especially since newer units are already running ahead of it, the problem appears to be with Cryo, specifically, and not just with Wriothesley.
Cryo is at a lower level in Genshin Impact
Cryo-related reactions need feedback
It’s not just Wriothesley that hasn’t been repeated, but other Cryo characters have been noticeably absent from banners for some time. The Cryo Shenhe support unit last appeared in version 3.5 banners almost two years ago. Shenhe’s absence from the banners is even more ridiculous considering the fact that the 5-star character received a new outfit during this year’s Lantern Rite Festival, but only players who already owned it were able to purchase and equip it. in Shenhe in Genshin Impact. She’s not the only one: the aforementioned Ganyu hasn’t appeared on rerun banners for some time.
Ganyu’s last repeat banner occurred in version 3.6, just one patch after Shenhe. Like his companion Cryo, Ganyu also received a new outfit for this year’s Lantern Rite Festival, but the character itself was not made available closer to the event. Even Eula, who is a Cryo character who mainly specializes in dealing Physical DMG to opponents, has not appeared in banners since Version 3.8. The most recent 5-star Cryo character to be repeated was Ayaka in version 4.3, but even then, she was also made powerful by Wriothesley. This is really bad news for Cryo as an element in Genshin Impact.
While other reactions become more complex and powerful with the introduction of new characters, Cryo-related reactions such as Melt and Superconduct are disappearing. These are still strong reactions, but there is less reason to continue using them as the game progresses and focuses solely on other reactions. With Pyro in the spotlight due to Natlan’s exploitation and the eventual release of Mavuika and the Pyro Traveler in Genshin ImpactThis would be the perfect time for Melt Reactions to make a strong comeback.
As disappointing as the leaks are, they should still be taken with a grain of salt. Rerun characters are the most subject to change between leaks, so there’s still a chance that the rerun schedule will change a few times before the 5.3 live stream. Even though Citlali is a Cryo character, the absence of Wriothesley and Shenhe, for example, will still be noticeable if they are not repeated. However, Genshin Impact 5.3 is shaping up to be a great update for players, despite the lack of Cryo repeater units.
