Rather than using the what-if machine or any of Futuramas other anthology episode framing devices, the framing device of “The Futurama Mystery Library” is all about books. The episode opens with viewers seeing a library floating in space, with Read Rainbows LeVar Burton is inside it. Throughout the episode, Burton picks books off the shelf, throws them into the fire, and introduces television episodes based on the books, with the episodes being the three Futurama segments.
