Screen Rant Interview talks Olagundui and Anders Keith in advance of the upcoming season of Fraser. The two discuss how filming in front of a live audience is the best of both worlds, as it is very similar to theater acting. They also reveal what they're excited to explore with their characters this season.
Filming in front of a live audience is "the best of both worlds"
"There is absolutely nothing like it in the whole world."
Screen Rant: Like filming in front of a live audience?
Tox Olagundui: This is the best. It's the best because we all come from theater, so we all love theater, but we're in the business, and we love filming too. The wonderful thing about theater is the live audience and being able to rehearse and really get into it. And the wonderful thing about television is that you get to do something different every day, and you get to stop in the middle if you mess up and do it again. It's the best of both worlds.
We get to rehearse, but we get to do something different every week. We get the live audience, but we get to stop if something isn't right and rewrite it in the moment and rework it. I mean, that live audience, it's so much fun. Many people do not know that there is a comedian, and he is like taking care of the audience while we rewrite things or do our makeup or set a new scene. We feel all the energy, too. When the music is playing and everyone is excited to be there, there is nothing like it in the world. Nothing like it in the whole world.
Anders Keith: Yes, I would say so. The audience is certainly the missing component. It'll be Friday, and we'll go through the studio, and you trust that it's fine, but you're like, "Okay, fine, I feel fine, but there's still something not there." It's the audience. They come, and it completes the whole place. The energy is now complete.
Screen Rant: I would think it's like improv, in a way.
Tox Olagundui: Yes, in a way, because you have to be able to adjust. I mean, Jack talked about it last night. You will think that something is going to work and it doesn't. You think that something is not going to work and it does. And in that moment, when you get that reaction, you have to shoot.
You have to really respect what the audience is giving you, because that's the indication of whether it's working or not and where you need to go. We're all pretty good at pivoting at the same time so you can still play off of each other. And it makes it organic. Having the audience, this makes it organic and fresh, because we still have to pay attention to that energy.
Anders Keith: It's awesome that what they tell us about the show is omni important. They just have a perspective that we can't have. Thanks, audience. Thank you for making it all possible.
Tox Olagundui and Anders Keith reveal their favorite Frasier Season 2 moments
This season we see Olivia's dorky side, and David falls in love.
Screen Rant: Do you have a favorite Frasier season 2 storyline for your character?
Tox Olagundui: Oh, boy. I mean, they're all great. I just love that this season you get to see the really dorky, innocent side of Olivia. The really funny side of you. And that's the passage for the character this season. I enjoy playing it and I think it is very interesting to watch as well.
Anders Keith: I enjoyed it too. David, he is a sophomore in college. He has all the journeys of being a young person figuring out what kind of adult they want to become. He falls in love. He gains power and goes crazy. He lashes out at someone he cares deeply for inside. Many fun things happen. I enjoyed the first episode, though. That was a lot of fun. with the ham.
Tox Olagundui: There are other food stuffs.
Anders Keith: Yes, there are other food related things. You will see.
