Frasier’s return to KACL is proof the reboot needs to quit his job as a Harvard professor and bring back the talk show

Notice! Spoilers ahead for Frasier Season 2, Episode 8, ‘Thank You, Dr. Crane.’It became evident that the Frasier the revival should finally ditch its Harvard storyline and bring back the radio call-in segment following Frasier’s emotional return to Seattle. Following the Frasier Revival Seaosn 1 Finale, which firmly established his new life in Boston with Freddy and a new support system, the Paramount+ series decided to bring back some familiar faces from his past life in the Pacific Northwest. As part of the expanding Roz’s role in the new show, she and Frasier take a trip back to Seattle to save KACL with a finale THE Dr. Frasier Crane Show transmission.

After his time in Chicago, Frasier doesn’t need to work. He has more than enough money to enjoy retirement at this point. That said, one factor in his decision to remain in Boston was becoming an educator at his alma mater. The first 10 episodes of New Frasier included this regularly in the character’s backstory, with several of his new friends in the school’s Paramount+ project. That said, Frasier’s return to Seattle, however briefly, is more than enough motivation to officially end his ridiculous candidacy for a teaching position, highlighting what he should really be doing during his final act in Boston.

The Frasier reboot didn’t do enough with him teaching at Harvard

Being a professor at Harvard doesn’t really serve the story of Frasier

In Frasier In the first season, the Paramount+ show at least tried to center the plot around the character’s new life as a guest educator at Harvard. He went to work and taught classes, including one that Niles and Daphne’s son, David, was a part of. Even so, though, it always seemed like becoming a professor at Harvard wasn’t the right choice for Frasier, not to mention how unrealistic it was. Frasier Season 2 seems to casually move away from the teaching storyline, with the character having no narrative centered around his supposed job.

Interestingly, Frasier still hangs out on campus and mixes with its crew. However, in his second year, so far, that’s it. He is not beholden to his class schedule and does not interact with his students. At this point, Frasier could very well be visiting Harvard to spend time with Alan Cornwall and that would be more realistic than having the idea that he is still an educator at school.

Frasier’s brief return to KACL proves he belongs on a talk show

Being on a call-in show highlights Frasier’s best quality

Ideally, Frasier and Roz would have staged a The Dr Show upon his return to Seattle. That said, just the brief moment where Kelsey Grammer sits down in her old chair and says: “This is Dr. Frasier Crane. I’m listening” is more than enough reason to revive a call thread. Not only is it nostalgic, but it also brings out Frasier’s best quality, which is his advocacy to help other people deal with their problems. That’s something the new series lacks, with his character arc mostly focused on some frivolous dilemma.

There is no denying that the Seattle episode highlights that it is time to abandon the history of the Harvard professorship. Frasier and replace it with a more familiar and more suitable one.

Is it true that Carol Burnett is the final special Dr. Frasier Crane show caller in Seattle is a good way to end the iconic segment, but the Paramount+ series could bring it back in Boston. Now that Roz is no longer at KACL, she and Frasier can team up on the East Coast to provide mental health help to people, whether through a podcast or even a radio show at Harvard. There is no denying that the Seattle episode highlights that it is time to abandon the history of the Harvard professorship. Frasier and replace it with a more familiar and more suitable one.
