Jack Cutmore-Scott has appeared in several Christopher Nolan films, including Oppenheimer And TenetWhile Jess Salgueiro recently appeared in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Fraser Season 2 premieres exclusively on Paramount+ on September 19.

Harriet Sansom Harris destroyed a reading table without even being there in person
– From the first word out of her mouth, they all lost.
Screen Rant: Like filming in front of a live audience?
Jess Salguiero: Exciting.
Jack Cutmore-Scott: The best. [The episode when Harriet Sansom Harris returns as Bebe Glazer] is such a good example of an episode that was so much fun to do for a live audience, because when Harriet walks out, and the reaction, everyone was so excited to see her. A little off-topic, but do you remember the table read for this episode? She was on a conference call. She called in, she couldn’t be in person. And from the first word out of her mouth, everyone lost it. I mean, she destroyed a table read without even being there in person. It is truly impressive. But yes, it is magic. It’s so much fun.
Jess Salguiero: It was really scary in the beginning, but now I can’t even imagine doing a comedy without the audience there. It helps you shape the character. It’s amazing.
Jack Cutmore-Scott: It’s fun. It’s like doing a little play, but you have to have a second, or even third, stab at every joke, every line, whatever. You get the audience’s energy from knowing when something is working, when something is really working, when something is really not working, and adjusting. You never know. Everything will be different. Every show will be different. It’s a roller coaster.
Jess Salguiero: In a way, they’re like the first editors of the show. If something isn’t working, we’re going to change it.
Jack Cutmore-Scott & Jess Salguiero reveal what they’re excited to explore in Season 2
Eve has a night out with the girls, and Freddie has a few drinks with Alan.
Screen Rant: Is there anything you were most excited to explore with your characters in season 2?
Jess Salguiero: I was excited to see Eve have a night out with some girls. The show addressed her being an exhausted single mother. And some of the people in your life maybe not exactly helping out as much as they could. I was just so excited to work with Perry [Gilpin] And to explore the relationship between Eve and Rose. This was so much fun.
Jack Cutmore-Scott: I had a similar thing with Nick, because Freddie and Alan didn’t have much time together in season 1. And I was just like, “Please, put me in. I want to have some stuff with Nick this season.” And we did. We had a couple of… I won’t give too much away, but in a later episode, Alan and Freddie have drinks and get to chat, and it’s kind of special. I have loved Nick Lyndhurst since long before I met him. So that was a special thing for me.
Jack Cutmore-Scott on making Freddy his own in the Fraser reboot
“I’m not trying to be like, he has a goth phase. How is that going to inform my performance?”
Screen Rant: Can you talk about making Freddy your own in this series, since we saw him in the original series?
Jack Cutmore-Scott: I went in fairly blind. I’ve seen a bunch of episodes of Frasier, of course. I was a fan, but by no means a super fan. And so while I was aware of the character’s existence, I definitely didn’t study Trevor’s performance or anything before my audition. I was like, it’s been 20 years, the guy has grown up, he’s changed. Let’s not try and, like, he had a god-face. How will this inform my performance?
But then, of course, I immediately returned, and I watched everything. I think Trevor did a phenomenal job establishing the character. What is invisible is how much I looked like Trevor looked like a kid when I was a kid. I had a lot of sympathy and empathy for his character and his experiences. I just made it my own. I just go with what instinctively feels right to me. And now, I’ve gone back and rewatched everything, I’m like me, at least, I think it makes sense where Freddie ended up in the 20 years we haven’t been watching him.
Having guest stars from the original Fraser is exciting and exciting
“It was so beautiful to see them working together after 20 years.”
Screen Rant: How fun is it for you both to have a lot of cameo appearances on the show?
Jess Salguiero: Every episode, we’re like, “Who’s the guest star? Amy Sedaris is coming on?” We felt it. And they keep, of course, they brought back a lot of the original cast that were so, so lovely to us. It was so beautiful to see them working together after 20 years. All the other guest stars, they just picked lovely, amazing, super talented people.
Jack Cutmore-Scott: Everyone brought something a little different to the show and to the tape night. You add a new ingredient, and it’s a whole different meal. It was great. Every time we really got so lucky, not only with the quality of the performances, but the quality of the people. No one showed up with a bad attitude. Nobody was a diva about anything. It was really, like, we’re here to have fun and put on this little game and make some people laugh. And I think that comes through.
