Notice! Spoilers ahead for Frasier Season 2, Episode 8, ‘Thank You, Dr. Crane.’

Warning: The article briefly discusses suicide.

Somehow, Frasier and Freddy’s new relationship comes into conflict. Frasier season two doesn’t have the emotional impact it should have because it refuses to acknowledge the events of Health. A big part of the premise of the Paramount+ revival is Frasier returning to Boston after his stint in Chicago. That said, a stop to visit his son made him realize he needed to repair the fractured relationship. THE Frasier The Season 1 finale seemed to resolve this, but Season 2 introduces a new problem between father and son.

Although Frasier and his son have a better dynamic now than when they first started living together, there are still some conflicts that arise in the show’s second year. Frasier the second season went deeper Freddy’s decision to drop out of Harvard, which apparently involved Alan Cornwall. It also explored young Crane’s refusal to open up to his father about his grief over his friend’s death. That said, in Frasier Season 2, Episode 8, ‘Thank You, Dr. Crane,’ the duo’s trip to Seattle for a special visit to KACL brings back resentments from decades ago.

Frasier’s trip to Seattle is prompted by Roz’s invitation make a special broadcast of The Dr. Frasier Crane Show to save the newcomer KACL. Freddy tags along, but he has no interest in his main goal and instead wants to watch the Mariners play. He doesn’t realize that even though his father is trying too hard to show him the legacy he left in the Pacific Northwest. In the end, Frasier admits that the reason he went out of his way to highlight his accomplishments is to justify to his son that leaving him in Boston was for a good reason.

Although Freddy reveals that he is no longer angry about it, he admits that there were times when he hoped to grow up with his father more often. For context, Frasier moved to Seattle after Health as a way to launch its new spinoff. Being on the opposite end of the country helped NBC not feature Sam Malone and the rest of his bar flies in the original Frasier. Ultimately, father and son patch things up, but it’s hard to be moved by this plot as it lacks key context.

Frasier left Frasier in Boston because Lilith cheated on cheerleading

Lilith caused her and Frasier’s divorce

Why the Frasier revival continues to ignore Healthfails to investigate the real reason Frasier moved away from Boston and couldn’t be close to Freddy. In the narrative a few years after Freddy’s birth, Lilith and Frasier divorced after she failed to be faithful. In Health season 11, episode 6, Lilith’s affair with her colleague Dr. Louis Pascal was revealed. This resulted in Freddy’s parents separating, as Lilith decided to leave her husband for her new lover. She eventually tried to get back together with Frasier, but failed.

Frasier even attempted to commit suicide when he tried to jump off the building, and although it was introduced comically, his subsequent conversation with Martin about his mother’s case painted the harsh reality of it.

When the original Frasier began, Frasier was already settled into his new life in Seattle with the divorce finalized. He wanted to start a new life in the Pacific Northwest after the suffering caused by Lilith’s infidelity. Frasier even attempted to commit suicide when he tried to jump off the building, and although it was introduced comically, his subsequent conversation with Martin about his mother’s case painted the harsh reality of it. It’s safe to say that Freddy still doesn’t know the real reason Frasier moved to Seattle. He was very young when the split happened, and the conversation never came up in both versions of the show Frasier. While it’s always possible that Frasier and Lilith sat him down to clarify the truth, his parents’ relationship has been very controversial, so it’s enough to convince anyone that the split was due to their conflicting personalities.

However, one of the biggest signs that Frasier didn’t confess what Lilith did to him was her conversation with Martin about the infidelities in their marriages. Despite his flaws, Frasier is a good man and would rather keep this whole ugly story a secret if it means sparing his son the pain of learning about it. For now, there don’t seem to be any plans for Freddy to find out what really happened between his parents in the Frasier revival, and perhaps that is for the best.
