Firehouse 51’s new rule makes Boden’s replacement a hypocrite in Chicago Fire season 13

A new rule in Firehouse 51 has already proven that Chicago FireChief Pascal is a hypocrite. Dermot Mulroney’s Dom Pascal is the newest addition to the Chicago Fire Season 13 cast. He replaces Wallace Boden, who was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of the Chicago Fire Department at the end of season 12 and thus will no longer appear permanently in the series. Eammon Walker is expected to still make a few appearances, but Firehouse 51 needs to get used to having someone new in charge.

Pascal already has big shoes to fill in the premiere of the 13th season of The Oldest One Chicago Series. He was replacing Chief Boden, who had been with the show since the first episode. The paramedics and firefighters at Firehouse 51 are unlikely to trust PascalHe had to prove that he was as capable a leader as his predecessor. Thus, Pascal instituted some new rules that were supposedly meant to whip the firehouse into shape. However, at least one of the rules seems pointless and hypocritical.

The chief wants to limit phone use to force relationships between the firefighters

Immediately on taking command of Firehouse 51 in the Chicago Fire season 13 premiere, Pascal announced that he would make changes in the way the firehouse was runEmphasizing that he did not want to be exactly like Baden. This understandably upset many of the firefighters, especially when he planned to meet with some of them in person later to discuss changes in their leadership style. However, Pascal tried to get goodwill by accompanying them on a call. The idea ultimately failed because of his announcement after the call that he was banning cell phone use while on duty.

Pascal does not want the firefighters to take or receive personal calls during their shifts, arguing that the policy will force them to connect with one another instead of being distracted by non-work-related conversations.

From a practical standpoint, the ban makes little sense, as firefighters need their phones to stay in touch during emergencies and to receive emergency calls. However, the controversial policy of Boden’s replacement involves the use of cellphones for personal reasons. Pascal does not want the firefighters to take or receive personal calls during their shifts, arguing that the policy will force them to connect with one another instead of being distracted by non-work-related conversations.

He has no relationship with the firefighters despite his insistence that it is a priority

Although Pascal claimed that relations between the workers at Firehouse 51 are a top priority, he has not joined them for meals until now. This makes him hypocritical, because he is the one who most needs to join the already-established team. Svereide, Herman, and others who have been with the firehouse for years already know each other well. Their relationships will not be influenced by whether someone is taking a personal call during downtime Chicago Fire Season 13.

Pascal had already ruffled feathers enough and made it sad that the chief bather was gone Chicago Fire. In addition to establishing the policy, he also suggested that Severide and Kidd not work in the same firehouse. He won’t win anyone in Chicago Fire Season 13 with draconian policies that serve no real purpose, however, especially if he’s not going to make relationships with the firefighters a priority after insisting they spend downtime relating to each other instead of on their phones.
