Notice! SPOILERS for Fire Country season 3, episode 1 ahead.
Bode confronting his uncle Luke about pursuing firefighting after gaining his freedom was a major point of Land of Fire
season 2 finale, but the revelations from the season 3 premiere finally suggest that Bode’s fate in season 1 will come true. After Land of Fire The first season ended with Bode returning to prison to secure Freddy’s release, Land of Fire the season 2 finale went in the opposite direction, allowing Bode to earn extraordinary conduct credit in the burning of Lazarus that gave him back his freedom. However, Land of Fire Season 2 also made evident one of Bode’s biggest problems in Seasons 1 and 2.
Land of Fire highlighted how Bode had difficulty letting go of something once he had made up his mind about it. It was a case of wanting to leave Three Rock for another prison camp before Sharon interceded and asked Manny to go against Bode’s wishes, but also in his relationship with Gabriela. Bode grabbed the possibility of being Gen’s father in the same way he did the chance of getting parole so he could finally be with Gabriela, ending up seriously burned. when both things didn’t come true. However, Bode’s focus on firefighting seemed different.
Bode’s conduct convinces Luke to help him realize his firefighting dream
The wedding and helicopter crash showed Luke how grounded the Goat can be
Bode’s persistence in fighting fires could be confused with his habitual tendency to link his value to something external, as he did in the past, but his desire to become a firefighter already showed a big difference. In fact, having been released from prison and finally a free man, Bode realized that what he wanted to do with his life was fight fires. Although Bode had previously held onto something out of fear, he now wanted to become a firefighter because he enjoyed it and felt it could help him avoid dangerous situations that could send him back to prison.
Although Luke insisted he couldn’t help Bode cut through the red tape to train to become a Cal Fire firefighter in Land of Fire 2nd season, seeing Bode jump into danger to help the pilot convinced Luke that firefighting could actually help Bode. Luke’s assessment that firefighting can kill or save Bode may still be correct, especially considering the dangerous nature of the work. However, Noticing how every Leone he knew felt equally inspired and at their best when fighting fires, Luke couldn’t keep this opportunity away from Bode.especially after he showed moderation and ability in Land of Fire season 3 premiere.
The fate of Bode’s “Leone Legacy” was established in the first season of Fire Country
Bode refused, but fire department inmates often joked about his legacy
Luke being willing to expedite Bode’s enrollment to train to become a Cal Fire firefighter also makes possible a Land of Fire Season 1 plot. Although Bode refused to be a firefighter arrested at Edgewater in Land of Fire At the start of Season 1, he was considered Cal Fire royalty by their fellow inmate firefighters. Freddy even nicknamed him “Fresh Prince of Edgewater” in Land of Fire season 1, episode 2, despite Bode refusing to have anything to do with fighting fires in Edgewater.
Having the chance to [train to become a Cal Fire firefighter] Surrounded by his support system makes Bode’s path through Fire Country Season 3 all the more crucial, bringing out his Season 1 storyline in the best way possible.
Everything that happened in Land of Fire Seasons 1 and 2, however, changed Bode’s perspective. Reconnecting with his family and friends and following Manny’s example has made him feel part of Edgewater again.not thinking about his past in the small town, but looking forward to his future. This would include fighting fires even elsewhere, but having the chance to do so surrounded by his support system makes Bode’s path Land of Fire season 3 even more crucial, bringing out the plot of season 1 in the best way possible.
