The latest update for Final Fantasy 14Patch 7.15, introduced the new alliance attack, Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic). This raid is designed to be a high-level task for 24 players with an average item level of 710 or higher and is considered a highly difficult experience. The raid has a time limit of 90 minutes and syncs item levels to 735.
The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) can only be accessed after completing the main scenario quest "Dawntrail". Players will not be able to queue directly for the last raid, as registration is only possible through the Raid Finder. Anyone who can access it will need to speak to the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal, which can be found at coordinates X:11.1 and Y:14.6. This attack has also been added to the High-end Duty category in Party Finder and to the list of challenges in Stone, Sky, Sea.
Final Fantasy 14 Cloud of Darkness is a difficult attack
This is the game's final level hard mode
The new attack on Final Fantasy 14 aims to push players to their limits. It is difficult to fight in an attack and even more so difficult to coordinate in a 24 player alliance raid. The role requirements are at least two tanks, two healers, and four DPS. Players can always fight the raid with fewer players or outside of an alliance, but the difficulty level does not decrease. Anyone who tries to do it this way should know that the odds are against them.
There is no reward for using fewer than 24 players required for the raid. The equipment rewards offered to players will remain the same regardless of how the raid is won. Item Level 730 gear is being rewarded from coffers after finishing this raid. These chest rewards are determined by the player's current class or job when the chest is opened.
Our take: Don't be afraid to try the attack yourself
Some players feel like they're not ready... but they are!
Diving into a new attack on Final Fantasy 14especially one with a perceived difficulty, it can seem daunting. It's tempting to wait for guides and rely on established strategies. However, the first weeks of a new state-of-the-art attacks are some of the most fun the game offers. Everyone goes blind and tries to figure out what works together. This makes every little discovery feel that much more impactful.
For anyone on the fence, I encourage you to simply find a party and try it out. No one is going to judge you for being bad at a brand new offense because everyone is still learning. Individual User_Dig237 posted on Reddit about his own anxiety regarding the attack, stating “I don’t want to be a burden on my team and constantly die/cause others to die. I’ll probably do it like a sage too.”
Even with their concerns, they found nothing but encouragement from other players. The only thing to keep in mind is that it is always best to gather a large group of players for any attack within Final Fantasy 14or the loss could end up being a valuable lesson you learn about MMOs.
