Far From Home proved that not even Iron Man believed in his side in the Civil War

Spider-Man: Far From Home
was a revealing entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)

for dozens of reasons, including the truth revealed about Tony's alignment after Captain America: Civil War. Civil War saw the Avengers come into conflict when disputes over how the heroes should operate began to cause discord. On one hand, Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, felt strongly that heroes needed the freedom to move and operate without much supervision to ensure they helped as many people as quickly as possible.

On the other hand, Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, aligned himself with the United Nations' arguments that superheroes should be registered, with proper supervision, training, and management. In this way, Stark hoped to avoid reckless incidents and the loss of more victims due to excessive use of force and mistakes by untrained heroes. However, there is an important element Spider-Man: Far From Home which seems completely contradicts this when Stark posthumously bequeaths young Peter Parker a special device.

EDITH goes completely against everything Iron Man argued in Civil War

EDITH is unlikely to be approved under the Sokovia Accords

EDITH means “Even in Dead, I Am the Hero” and represents a special intelligence device that Stark made to protect and aid the juvenile superhero, Spider-Man, in his efforts to save people. This technology resembled JARVIS, allowing Peter to interact with a computer that had incredibly advanced intelligence and capabilities to run programs, access other computers and even command an army of drones equipped with advanced weapons. This tool was invaluable for Peter to connect with his old mentor and discover new ways to help others, but it also led to considerable trouble when it was stolen and used by the villain Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio.

But beyond that, it seems to be completely against what Iron Man stood for and fought against his closest allies, in Civil War. He put highly powerful weapons in the hands of a teenager, despite Peter not being very experienced. Of course, Peter and his friend Ned hacked the device to access all its features earlybut it still seems like an odd choice that the government would not have been happy with.

EDITH Suggests Iron Man Changed His Mind After Civil War

Iron Man returned to his old protective methods

At the end of Civil WarIron Man was clearly worn down by the experience of fighting his friends, and the revelation that Bucky Barnes was behind his parents' deaths was a huge blow. Although he still wanted to avoid any loss of life, Stark always put his family firstand he took extreme measures to keep them safe. In Iron Man 3it was revealed that Stark built dozens of suits of armor to act as an army and protect himself and Pepper in times of need, and while he got rid of that arsenal, the need to prepare for the worst didn't go away.

After Civil WarIt's conceivable that Stark recognized that the government was flawed in how slow the response could be and in its tendency to imprison superheroes instead of providing them the chance to redeem themselves and fight alongside their friends. Considering how he viewed Pedro as a dear friend and potential protégé, it makes sense that he would take steps to protect him. Thus, by creating EDITH and hiding it from the UN or any other government interference, he hoped continue guiding and supporting Peter long after his death.

Why EDITH makes sense for Iron Man's Infinity Saga story

Tony Stark took care of his loved ones

Stark may have been a hero, but he was afraid of losing loved ones. Having lost his parents at a young age, and nearly losing Pepper on a few occasions, he has put the safety and security of his loved ones at the forefront of his work. That's why he designed an arsenal of suits, that's why he built Ultron, that's probably why he supported the Sokovia Accords, and after seeing the weaknesses and flaws of each of them, that's why Iron Man created EDIT. Stark expected to help Peter at a steady paceand give him incremental access to technology, but Peter's impatience resulted in disaster.

Although Stark has your best interests in mind, heroes often have to suffer from their mistakes and learn as they go. Peter certainly learned a lesson after losing EDITH, but it wasn't easy. However, this reflects Stark's own journey to becoming a hero in a much more honest and faithful way than if he had been given the benefit of EDITH. However, it also shows that Stark abandoned his position after Civil Waras seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
