While the dapper delights update for Disney Dreamlight Valley was generally well received by the community, Some disgruntled fans believe Gameloft needs to revisit the beloved Princess Tiana. The focal character of the august patch, the protagonist of The Princess and the Frog Was one of the most anticipated additions to the Valley, bringing with it a wealth of new quests and items. Now that the dust has settled on Dapper Delights, some players feel that the update didn’t deliver the experience they were hoping for and want the developer to make some changes.
Over on change.org, User Christina Dombrowski-Smith started a petition titled “Justice for Princess Tiana in Disney Dreamlight Valley,” asking that passionate fans join the movement to convince Gameloft to redesign the princess. Dombrowski-Smith points out that Tiana’s “Facial features, hair design…skin color, even her outfit” Look significantly different from how she is depicted in The Princess and the FrogRequests that her in-game character model be amended to better resemble her appearance in the film. This wouldn’t be the first time a character has been updated in Dreamlight Valley: Similar protests were raised by Bell’s first appearance.
A growing Dreamlight Valley petition
It is still early days for the movement
It’s worth noting that at the time of writing, the Change.org petition for Princess Tiana in Dreamlight Valley is still in its infancy and as such, does not have many signatures. Whether the community feels strongly enough to sign it en masse remains to be seen Its mere existence is indicative of a recurring problem the community often experiences with the game’s cast. Some older characters were also criticized for their appearance, prompting many to question Gameloft’s art style.
The issue of Tiana’s “false” appearance is not new: Many players criticized Bell’s portrayal, suggesting that her facial features and stature did not match how she appeared in Beauty and the Beast. Also from Frozen Earned similar comments when she was added to Dreamlight Valley. For its part, Gameloft has been good at responding to player feedback, so there’s a decent chance that Tiana will be adjusted.

Mixing art styles can be difficult
Disney Dreamlight Valley Fans have every right to demand that the game they pay for depicts their favorite characters correctly, but it’s worth noting that Gameloft’s chosen art style may cause some inconsistencies. Tiana’s jump from 2D to 3D likely resulted in some aspects being lost in the transitionSo it makes sense that she would look different. Players can only hope that Gameloft fixes this problem with or without a fan petition.
