There are many paths in Precipitation universe that are ripe for exploration, and when Fallout 5 Effect releases, it would be extremely rewarding for fans and players to take a look at some of these areas. While Ghouls are interesting, there are many other great possibilities for a protagonist in Fallout 5 Effectand a specific Precipitation monstrosity that seems like an obvious choice is the Super Mutant. These abominations contain a rich history rooted in the series' lore, and following the experience of a single Super Mutant could simultaneously provide better context for the events leading up to the previous games.
A Super Mutant main character would be a departure from previous formulas and make the next game more unique, while also giving fans a more complete backstory. By definition, this would work as a prequel to the other installments in the franchise, but with that comes a wealth of opportunities to make meaningful connections to future events, and give returning fans and new players a new and original experience Precipitation history. As a Super Mutant, players would be able to see firsthand the events that followed the FEV project and experience the transition from human to Super Mutant for themselves.
Why Super Mutants Could Make a Good Protagonist for Fallout 5
The Super Mutant is a complex creature with a rich backstory
A Super Mutant protagonist would potentially have access to a new set of possible abilities based on the effects of the specific strain of FEV they possess, making them a great option for a Fallout 5 Effect protagonist. For example, if the story focused on horrific stories Precipitation legend, the Master, during or immediately after those first twisted FEV experiments, the protagonist of Fallout 5 Effect could even have access to psychic abilities. This could open up endless possibilities, from practical applications during Commonwealth exploration to unlocking doors or accessing hard-to-reach areas for combat encounters. Super Mutants would also have extremely high resistance to radiation, which would allow them to explore otherwise inaccessible areas.
Regardless of when the next game will be set on Precipitation timeline, the perspective of a Super Mutant makes sense. Already in the original Precipitation game, the Super Mutants are at the center of each story, and with companions or NPCs like Marcus de Fallout 2 Effect and Strong and Dr. VirgĂlio de Fallout 4 Effect, It is clear that these are complex beings that are affected by FEV to varying degrees. It also makes sense from a gameplay and RPG perspective when considering the effects FEV has on specific abilities, such as hyperintelligence, extreme dexterity and endurance, as well as the obvious super strength.
The creation of FEV and super mutants would be an interesting story
The history of FEV dates back to before the end of the world
Although it is unclear when exactly the next Precipitation the game will be set, the use of FEV to create Super Mutants is ubiquitous in the Wasteland, and there could easily be an entirely new plot generated around the creation of Super Mutants, similar to the EEP variant of Vault 87's FEV that produced wild Super Mutants en masse or the Institute of Fallout 4 Effect and its mocking byproducts of its Gen 3 synth research. Whether the next installment is a prequel, a sequel, or even set in the same time period as a previous game, there's room for a great Super Mutant story.
One particularly ripe area for Super Mutant story development is the process of FEV transforming the human specimen into a Super Mutant, and the different side effects this could have on a potential main character. On the other hand, a Super Mutant story could expand on Dr. Virgil's attempts to cure the Super Mutant's side effects reintroducing its original DNA, replacing the FEV within it. Since he was able to successfully cure himself, it seems that a widespread cure for these biomutants would not only be possible, but could make the Commonwealth safer for everyone.
Additionally, a Super Mutant protagonist would be an easy and natural way to tell longtime fans of the franchise more history surrounding The Master, the original antagonist of the first Precipitation game and potentially even fill in details of already in the pre-war development of the virus by West Tek. FEV has been used by most of the major antagonists in Precipitation series through nefarious means, and it would be interesting to see a new perspective on the creation of this virus, which began as an attempt to cure an infectious plague long before the war began.
A super mutant protagonist would feel unique in Fallout
Players want a new perspective on the Wasteland
In addition to the many narrative possibilities that a Super Mutant protagonist opens up, it would also be a change of pace from what players expect from a Precipitation game. Strictly from a gameplay standpoint, a Super Mutant would simply have access to many more interesting abilities than another vault-dwelling ghoul. The resistances that a Super Mutant possesses would add to the open-world feel because they could freely explore areas that a normal human wouldn't, and they would be physically capable of new and exciting abilities related to their absurd strength and endurance.
If there was ever a time to review some of the game mechanics in a Precipitation game, it seems like the way to do this would be through a Super Mutant as the main character, as opposed to another vault dweller or even a ghoul. The choice would open new possibilities for level-up systems, combat mechanics, VATS, inventory management and more. The nature of FEV is unpredictable enough that virtually any ability a Super Mutant could have as a side effect (within reason) would be logical and make sense at the most Precipitation tradition.
The bottom line is that a Super Mutant protagonist makes sense for Fallout 5 Effect for many reasons related to story, gameplay and in terms of giving players something new and exciting in the franchise. Super Mutants are present in all the main narratives of the Precipitation series, and their deep connection to pre-war bioweapons, The Master, the Institute, etc., would be a natural way to fill out backstory and add history to existing lore, while their unique physical attributes would make them ideal for new gameplay. Precipitation you need to do yourself a favor and introduce a Super Mutant as the protagonist in Fallout 5 Effect.
